Seattle's Korma has been present on the circuit for a few years now, though he has been relatively quiet prepping his anticipated new project "Waxworm." Last year he self-released his EP "Lacewing" and dropped bootlegs periodically. After a strong release on Infinite Machine in 2015, he was infamously bootlegged by Total Freedom. Korma's "Waxworm" EP is his first proper release in two years. "It will be released on the Houston label "Majía," which is operated by prominent club duo Santa Muerte. "Waxworm" is high-sensory and raw, while feeling post-apocalyptic and deeply bleak. The release is split between club cuts and orchestral compositions, but a consistent and pummeling darkness stays intact throughout. "400kg of Victim's Bones (Hells Wind)," the screeching centerpiece of the EP, balances perfectly between UK Grime and Power Electronics- invoking more comparisons to Prurient than to Mumdance. Korma exhibits his versatility with the cinematic "Skin Horse." The track is littered with destruction and noise. but is driven by unabashed keys; The end product is raw, and somehow feels natural. Korma exhibits countless influences thru his ep but creates a sound that is distinctly his own, and impressive at that.
