Every year I try to do a quick demo using products bought during Black Friday sales. This year it's the Korg Collection 4.

I decided to call the track "Black Friday Emails", because that's all my life is now, deleting Black Friday emails. So far I've mostly been able to resist temptation, but the Korg Collection at 50% off was enough to win me over. This was my first test drive with the collection.

Since the original kinda copped "Family Affair" at the end, I went ahead and took it there too.
I also threw in some "Bennie & The Jets" at the end.
The rhythm guitar is a tribute to Nile Rodgers (aka the best rhythm guitarist of all time).
The drum sound is me trying to cop the sound of MJ's Off The Wall record. 

My idea of a good cover is throwing elements of several different songs or artists into the mix.

Synth #2: .com played via keyboard #2. Uses Q107 State Variable filter.
Synth #3: ARP Odyssey. Really showing off the duophonic capabilities of this synth.
Pad: Native Instruments Absynth.
Strings: Sampled Oberheim Matrix-12.
Drums and percussion: Logic Ultrabeat.
Hi-hat: live played Zildjian hi hat.

Here's my take on the Stylistics classic "People Make The World Go Round" written by Thom Bell and Linda Creed. 

I've always loved this tune and wanted to do something a little different with it rhythmically...Lots of little time signature changes in here. 
I decided to go with my sampled Rhodes rather than the real one because I like the way it "speaks".

Tite Rope

In progess demo tracks for Yamaha's V80FD prototype workstation keyboard, from late 1988 (from an old cassette tape if stashed from way back when)

The V80FD engine was essentially two DX7II engines combined with a REX50 effects chip to be Yamaha's flagship workstation.  All sounds in the demos created by "Enhanced DX7" 6 operator sine wave FM synthesis, including all drum and percussion sounds.

The enhancements included expanded per operator Pitch EG's, LFO's, as well as velocity to feedback and negative velocity to Operator output.  In addition, the design incorporated expansion slots intended to add future additional synthesis Plug In boards - i.e. sample playback, etc, as would eventually be included in the CS6x and S80/S90

At the last minute it was shelved as the development of the SY77 was moved forward.
