Originally the idea I had for this mix just wasn't working out.  I couldn't get it to flow the way I wanted, couldn't find the right tunes, couldn't make it work.  So I scrapped it all and just went song to song, not really worrying about what songs were at what position in the mix like I usually do, or what the vibe was for the first 20 minutes compared to the middle, I was just concerned with if the songs went together in the moment.  It got a little weird.  Im pretty happy with the result.  

Featuring tunes by Chase & Status, Calyx & TeeBee, Young Ax, Mutated Forms, Break, Bungle, John B and High Contrast, this mix covers a variety of styles, sounds and vibes, good for festival road trips, cleaning the fish tank, eating bbq in the backyard drinking something purple, playing Mario Kart 3 or while solving for 'x'.

We've featured work from all three recently, (see Sinistarr's "KNS 2019", HomeSick's "Running on Empty", and our premiere from the Worst Behavior Vol. 2 compilation, A-0's "This Against That") so it's safe to say we were excited to this dream team come together. In anticipation of Defrostatica Records's Champion Sound debut, we are happy to premiere Sun Peoples break beat filled footwork jungle remix of "Talk." The Moscow trio known as "Champion Sound" is a producer trio who played together in a reggae band and then decided to form their dub and jungle love into modern club tracks. Neekeetone, Distant Roots and General Koondoongoo are pushing a sound within the Moscow bass scene that is tearing down the city's techno barriers for a diverse vibe of dubstep, jungle and footwork. 

With a recently released 12" on Berlin based label Through These Eyes Records and DJ support by the likes of Om Unit, Moresounds, J:Kenzo, Sun People, Mister Shifter, Mystic Pulse they are on their way to ravers worldwide. Look out for this release dropping on Defrostatica October 4th!

Today's installment in the Booms and Claps mix series comes to us from London's Lewis James in the form of a 47 minute turbo-charged high octane journey through halftime drum and bass beats, footwork, jungle, electro-influenced ghettotech and juke, and 160 bpm rave music. We've had our eye on Lewis for quite some time now, from his early self-released Bandcamp beats, to releases on the legendary Lowriders Recordings and Rua Sound, to his recent success with major uptempo bass music imprints like 1985 Music and Astrophonica Recordings, and we couldn't be more excited to see where he goes from here. From what we're hearing in this mix, it seems like he's taken an interest in the four on the floor 160 bpm electro sound that has been championed recently by folks like Fracture and Om Unit, and we certainly hope there's more to come from him in that vein.
