Cranky Owls is the new collaborative brainchild of two established American producers who have had their collective claws on the pulse of global 'House' music for over two decades. The tongue in cheek name evokes imagery of wise, nocturnal creatures who never seem to get enough sleep. Cranky, but lovable at the same time - these are just a few of the endearing characteristics that the sly production duo possess.  Suffice to say that the name is appropriate and the union of these two industry veterans was a match made in heaven! The melding of their respective musical styles is a unique blend of House music that is deep, soulful and abstact in nature, with a concentrated focus on what moves the dance floor. The first offering is an mesmerizing 8 minute journey simply titled "Times Up" - a subtle reminder and wake up call for all House purists to open their minds to converging styles of house music. Clocking in at a groove friendly 120 BPM, "Times Up" is a bumpin' deep house affair that's been road tested and is versatile enough to work in the main room, as well as more intimate settings. As the title would imply, it could serve as a set closing anthem. “Times Up” features vocal contributions from the 'Owls' themselves and a lil' help from a lady with the midas touch, Solara. The track comes complete with punchy no nonsense beats, hypnotic arpeggios, quirky percussive hits & atmospheric FX, filtered rhythmic keys, moody cello riffs, ambient electric guitar, drama infused pads and one NASTY bass line. Keith Evan has played a major role in the deep house community throughout the US dating back to the early 90’s.  For the past 20 years Keith has hung his hat, not only as a dj, but as a globally respected promoter for some of the top dance music gatherings in the United States and Mexico.  His background includes a 13+ year history pioneering the House music movement in Las Vegas. He is the master mind for the world renown Soundbar events; a stage for many of todays most respected DJs including Kerri Chandler, Osunlade, Kenny Dope Gonzales, Rich Medina and Mark Farina. Currently he is globally branded under the Mi Casa Es Su Casa and Ambassadors identities as a touring artist, including executive rolls as a promoter and musical director.  His extensive background includes performing on some of the genre’s highest platforms including Salted w/Miguel Migs, Sublevel w/Doc Martin, and Turntables on the Hudson w/ Nickodemus to name just a few. It was just a matter of time before this award winning DJ/Promoter would make his way into the studio. It's easy to lose sight of what an emotional roller coaster ride the pandemic has been and the toll it's taken on our families, friends and societies around the world. 'Touch One Soul' takes an introspective look at overcoming fears and getting ones priorities in order. At the end of the day we need human connection and move in strength when we treat each other with kindness and love. Lisa's nuanced interpretation is so relatable and soulFILLED. Her signature, sultry delivery glides effortlessly over Latin influenced beats, lush rhodes, strings and pads, with sumptuous organ & synth work. Dave Lee teamed up with Omar. A gifted, prolific artist, Omar learned his craft classically, playing the trumpet, piano, bass guitar and percussion. A former principal percussionist of the Kent Youth Orchestra and later a graduate of the Guildhall School Of Music, Omar was awarded an MBE in 2012 for services to music.

Starlight is a gorgeous, mid-tempo dance record, with Omar’s silky vocals backed up with rich production: soaring live strings, groove-laden clav and a warm bassline creating a heady, inviting atmosphere. Almost viscerally life-affirming and unashamedly positive.

It's already two and a half years ago since I released 'Shoot From the Heart' on Adaptation Music. I received so many great reactions on that release (and still on 'Wave of Love' too, thank you!) that I couldn't resist to make another track with the great vocalist that is Christa.
