Our next release on Strangelove comes from a returning favourite of ours; E.R.N.E.S.T.O, this time joining forces with Californian-based DJ and producer, Morelia, to deliver their brand new single; 'Loca'. 

Both artists have well-established themselves within the Tech House community with successful releases on labels including Toolroom, Dirtybird, Bunny Tiger, Punks, Psycho Disco!, Box Of Cats and garnering support from AAA DJs; Claude Vonstroke, Loco Dice, Marco Carola, Christian Martin and Shiba San to name a few. 

'Loca' does not disappoint; showcasing both artists unique production techniques offering trippy vocals, hypnotic basslines, signature percussion and a terrifically woozy blend of swirling synth motifs that take you to another dimension. Enjoy!

The numbers 808 get thrown around quite a lot. So much in fact that you will often hear pop records talking about them when they may not even be present. Who am I though to be sour about the celebration of the worlds best drum kit.. Yes I said DRUM KIT. Fight me.

Although these tracks don’t scream ‘808’, their release date 8/08 is something to remember. Its a celebration of electronic music and what a better way to celebrate that than a chunky world class compilation.

Worthy and Lisbon Sisters, Astronomar and Return of The Jaded lead the pack with their heavy hitting club weapons. Then we have label potato heads ‘The Potato Heads’ keeping it warm over two of our favourite artists Mancodex & FOOLiE.

Return Of The Jaded - Detour (BOTRAX03)

Weird story behind this track.  Here it goes...This all happened back in January of this year (2019).  The first tune I heard that got me into bass house music was Expect Us - Welcome To The Basement [BOX OF CATS].  I first heard it on their Lost Catalog comp that dropped January 10th of this year (2019).  I was so inspired by that insane bass line, I just had to see if I had the skills to recreate that exact same sound on my own.  At the same time, my boy Torrfisk was kicking around these vocals he had recorded for a collaboration with Teknicoz on tune they produced called Medicine (released this week 10/24/19 on Sweets & Treats).  He threw them my way.  I had the project open so I dropped the vocals on top and then crushed out this tune....and voila...we have this oddly inspired banger. What is the Perfect Driver Tour Bus? 

We would like to be the first independent dance music record label to take our show on the road. Literally. With help from supporters, label-head Matthew Anthony will be customizing a Sprinter Van to pick up artists in one city to play shows in the next while remote operating the label in an ongoing Perfect Driver tour. Our goal is to give Perfect Driver artists and fans a one of a kind experience. A #VanLife styled road trip where the DJ plays shows in big cities, small towns and everywhere in between, all while producing music in a mobile recording studio. Picture the Perfect Driver high-top Sprinter Van at a local art show or skate park with artists performing from the back. Or our #DJsAndCooking web-series broadcasting live from festivals. Imagine pit stops in National Parks while documenting artist & industry conversations on YouTube or Patreon for subscribers. Our plan includes playing quarterly shows in major markets.

If you're a Perfect Driver artist, we want to bring you on the road. If you're a show promoter or venue, we want to talk about working together. Ocean Roulette, Arnold & Lane - Groove (Out Jan 3)

Why are you a freak?
I am from the U.S. but I have had the opportunity to live on and off in Germany for a few years so my sound is a mixture of those influences.
The music I make tends to be sporadic within the sub-genres under house music. I make tech house, bass house, techno, west coast tech house, and it all somehow fits together quite well.

Most unbelievable moment:
Jolt EP drop with Toolroom’s Strangelove. I had previously self released my first EP and then I got the contract to be on a label with artists like Steady Rock, OMNOM, Astronomar, and NiQw. I was very surprised I was getting a release like that so early on.

Favorite dish:
‘Mother’s Weekly Special’
It is a homemade red sauce, pasta, topped with basil, balsamic reduction and feta cheese.

Favorite freak / why:
My best friend, Cassandra.
She exposed me to Western Europe, specifically music culture in Germany.
We have been able to travel a lot and it has been a big influence on my sound.

Favorite place to be:
Disneyland

Colossi Rah in the future:
I want to try my hand at more techno, continue to make a diverse array of house music, and expand in the variety of labels that I am on.
I have also wanted to do more in the art world. I started to collaborate, choreograph, and compose contemporary dance pieces with a dancer at Netherlands Dance Theater.

Double Agent - Shake Off

Birmingham's Marc Spence has been a friend of Claude VonStroke since his very early visits to the UK. On every trip to the famed city, Marc always said he would get a track on Dirtybird. Years later this dream has come true with the “Mooda Koopa” EP, and it was worth the wait.
The main single "Moody Koopa" is superior - one of those rare tunes that stops you in your tracks. The second single, “They Wanna”, compliments the vibe of the EP, reminiscent of Robag Whrume's classic "Dopamin" with twisted bass synths and tough drums.
