From the recordings that produced Drums Between the Bells - the collaboration between Brian Eno and British poet Rick Holland – comes an all new EP titled Panic Of Looking.

The 6 tracks continue the exploration of how lyric & song- writing are perceived in the post-everything era.  As the Sunday Times suggests, "The poems aren't sung, yet the pieces are undeniably songlike, first because the music refuses to act simply as background, but lurches frequently, sometimes unexpected to the fore, and second because we hear the meaning of the words in the way we normally pick up song lyrics," while WIRED Magazine calls Eno’s soundscapes, "a tapestry of pillowy synths, minor-key melodies, chiming guitars and skittering drums."

All of these elements come together for the November 7th/8th release of the EP, which was produced by Eno and features his original artwork on vinyl, CD & digital formats.

Next Saturday night (October 29th, 2016) Slim Media Player will make his live debut alongside András, D.Tiffany, Tyler Fedchuk, and DJ D.DEE at our first ever Halloween party that we've decided to call "Walk The Night" in honour of one of the toughest bits of CANCON ever committed to disc. S/O to the Bent Boys!

In anticipation we asked SMP if he could shoot over a recording of the live set he's been working on. He did just that and this is what he had to say about...

Suction Records presents a new split-12-inch by label alumnus June and Lowfish - “C.D.S.N.” (suction038) is 4 tracks of classic Suction-style melodic analog electro. 300 copies on ORANGE vinyl.

Berlin’s June first appeared on Suction Records with his 2015 debut album of wave-inspired electro, “Dominion.” Here, June opens the 12” with “Cynthia 84,” a a lush, beatless Tangerine Dream-scape, thick with analog arpeggiations and gorgeous melodies. “Navigation” closes proceedings with a driving, dark electro/wave dance track.

Toronto’s Lowfish co-founded Suction Records in 1997, and has been a staple of the label ever since. Lowfish appearances have been few and far between in recent years, but he’s returned here in finest form. “Dead Specimen” is clinical and pounding electro, while side B’s opener ”Scarborough Brutalist" is a prime example of Lowfish’s patented melodic electro style, with catchy, melancholy analog melodies cascading over slow but slamming 808 beats.

Ghosting Episode #18 (March 2017)

Last year Andrew from Portland contacted me to ask if i wanted to contribute a track to his newly founded label «New Information». His plan was to do a dual cassette compilation that goes by the name of «Styles for Relaxation» (after a new age store specializing in cassettes and the usual paraphernalia, based here in Portland but long out-of-business). I really liked the concept and wrote the track «Silver Circles» which is now featured on the beautiful curated and designed two cassette compilation alongside tracks by other greats like: Ruf Dug, Body-San, Cherushii, Moon B and many more. 

Now im really happy to share this amazing mix that Andrew did for us which consists of mostly unreleased and exciting music.

Forest Of The Dancing Spirits III

Hot on the heels of his latest EP on Ninja Tune comes a new podcast from Nathan Fake. An outsider artist since day one, Fake uses cheap and easy-to-acquire technology to make his always idiosyncratic sounds. They have always been leftfield and thoughtful dreamscapes that fuse techno, experimental and ambient together, but have recently tended towards a darker, more intense place. 

That is played out across the 65 minute selection he has put together for us here. It features unreleased music from Fake and friends, as well as tracks from Karen Gwyer, long time Border Community label mate James Holden, plus Peverelist, Autechre and more. After a synth heavy and beatless start, lo-fi and fuzzy styles of electro, acid and techno all add up to the sort of primal yet intriguing trip you would expect from such a revered underground figure.
