This pair hit it off outside B-Side Radio in Vancouver on a sunny afternoon last fall and have been sharing tunes back and forth across the Rockies ever since.
A re-record of their opening set from the Radiate DE-TÜ show in May 2023, this mix is a showcase of their mutual influence on each other’s taste. Broken 2-step rhythms blend into breaks followed by grime, dubstep and other 140 bpm cuts for the first official recorded output of Buff N Pretty.

Buff N Pretty @ Radiate S1.E4 - May 5, 2023

For the second consecutive year I had the great privilege and joy of collaborating with my dear friend Lo on a movement workshop for Bass Coast, with our workshop taking place on Saturday afternoon at The Cabin stage. This set was performed live, in sync with Lo's facilitation with the aim of working through a variety of tempos, genres and energy levels. I am so grateful for all who joined us, and for Lo's invitation to build this together. I am so happy with the resulting mix and I truly hope that it may end up contributing to your movement/embodiment practice. 

Workshop description: 
Get your energy moving with a delicious, full-body dynamic movement practice! Enjoy bassy flowing sequences with inspiration from Vinyasa Yoga, then turn it up with some sweaty dance-fitness. Then we ground it back down, touch into a bit of core strengthening, and top it off with an easeful and relaxing stretch. With a live DJ set flowing through a range of ambient to bassy and danceable beats, this session invites you to connect to community and yourself as you get a full body tune-up and tune-in. Bring a yoga mat if you can!

Facilitators Biographies:

Lo (they/she) is a lover of movements and thrives in the juicy space where art meets activism. With 14 years of teaching experience, they are trained in a range of embodiment modalities including yoga, pilates, dance, and fitness. They are also a social justice educator/facilitator, life coach, and clinical counsellor in training. Based in the unceded territories of the Squamish, Musqueam, and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations, Lo's teaching style strikes a unique balance of grounded depth and light-hearted play. Buff N Pretty (Finn and @Mother-Mary-yyc) are back with another mix showcasing their love for breakbeats, soaring emotional bass music, UK garage cuts, and each other. This is a faithful recreation of their 2am Saturday night set at Future Forest which was notable for the energy of the friends present and the amount of mud on the dance floor. This set is best enjoyed while driving, cooking, out on a walk, or while getting ready for a party. Stay tuned for what's next for these two as they cook up their schemes for next summer.

untz-inspired, alien-like,  genrebending mixing machine heavily influenced by the 🌲👽🌲disco biscuits, pretty lights, sts9, deep house, dub, dnb, some bass (Rezz sine 2017)and good rap (Old school). SYID

I was deep in the mixing game from 2011 to 2016….long story, short; in 2013 a family tragedy caused me to deal with it by getting hooked on addie’s and when that phase finally ended, my late night mixing ended. Fast forward to numerous life changes ending in us being in Oregon since 2019! The best move ever and tbt, I was able to find my passion again for mixing after watching every Pretty Lights live stream and realizing my old music I mixed are now “classic” gems. I’ve worked hard to be more patient and it’s far easier since not on adderall and it definitely shows in my new mixes. 

They have become more like a “live dj set,”
Where I decide on a bpm (ranging from 67 to 135), then I try to build a unique and catchy intro and just sorta “take it from there.” I try to include certain bands and influences, but ya never know. I’ve been mixing Elton John w Nine Inch Nails lately. Sounds ridiculous on paper but is actually quite wicked. Bad ass, if I might say. Also, because of my unique technique, of course there will be mistakes. I’m definitely not perfect, yet.  And I don’t expect everyone to like it, just be kind in your words. ✌️ 

I’m Not sure how to promote my mixes right now in 2024 but once I do, the new ones will catch on w my age range and “swirl” fans & jam band & edm fans alike, for sure. Old gems mixed w new masters such as Clozee and Classic Rezz and tons of Pretty Lights and Depeche Mode, NIN, thom yorke remixes. And of course there is plenty of the Best Band in the Land, the absolute undisputed Kings of Untz; the Disco Biscuits. 
An ambient~ rap ~ dnb~bass ~filled dark n spacey blissful trip thru endless peaks and valleys. Might laugh (les claypool & Elton John can sneak even ) u might cry/— you’ll for sure dance! Since the release of the Disco Biscuits album, I’ve been somewhat obsessed with mixing their new tunes in w deep house music. Lots of unique mixes being made.…Stay tuned baybay!!!
