a creative exercise, both to identify and reproduce aural signifiers of the late 2000's emo/punk/thrash style, and to teach myself basic instrumental and vocal mixing abilities on logic pro x.

also because the juxtaposition of the mild-mannered original musical theme of o'reilly's auto parts and the distorted, anguished aesthetic of emo music is hilarious to me. 

something could also be said about the post-modernist impulse to interpret capitalist constructions as works of art, simply by presenting them differently, (sculptural works of eva hesse and warhol come to mind), but musicologically, advertising music has always existed as a kind of non-music: technically performable and sample-able, but enough of a low hanging fruit to scare "serious musicians" away. If a fruit hangs low, pick it and eat it.
