Atmung und Blutfluss können sich dem Rhythmus von Musik anpassen. Das wollen Mediziner für die Blutdruckkontrolle und Reha-Maßnahmen nach einem Herzinfarkt nützen.

Italienische Wissenschaftler haben herausgefunden, dass anschwellende Musik, ein sogenanntes Crescendo, das Herz-Kreislauf-System anregt. Dagegen entspannt es sich, wenn ein Musikstück allmählich leiser (Decrescendo) wird. In einer früheren Studie hatten die Forscher bereits festgestellt, dass schnelle Musik die Herz-Kreislauf-Aktivität beschleunigte. Stoppte die Musik, ging sie allmählich auf die Ausgangswerte zurück. Langsame Klänge senkten die Werte unter das Normalmaß.

Denn Effekt von musikalischer Geschwindigkeit in Kombination mit Lautstärke wollen die Forscher um Luciano Bernardi von der Universität Pavia für die Therapie von Bluthochdruck nutzen oder als Reha-Maßnahme, um etwa die Herztätigkeit nach einem Infarkt wieder zu stabilisieren oder auch die neurologischen Störungen von Schlaganfallpatienten zu verbessern.

„Musik löst eine dynamische Veränderung im Herz-Kreislauf-System aus“, sagt der Internist. „Zum einen löst die von der Musik hervorgerufene Emotion diese Veränderung aus. Es ist aber auch genau umgekehrt: Die veränderte Herzaktivität beeinflusst die Empfindung.“ Der Mediziner geht davon aus, dass Musik eine körperliche Reaktion auslöst, noch bevor der Hörer psychisch darauf anspricht.

Welche positiven Effekte Musik hat, ist seit Längerem bekannt: Sie löst Stress, verbessert die Leistungsfähigkeit sowohl von Profisportlern als auch von Menschen mit einer körperlichen Behinderung, entspannt psychisch Kranke. Die Musiktherapie wird daher auf vielen Gebieten eingesetzt. Den Wert seiner Studien sieht Luciano Bernardi vor allem darin, dass sie zeigen, welchen Effekt die Kombination von laut und leise, schnell und langsam haben kann. „Das Herz-Kreislauf-System passt sich dieser Veränderung stets an. Darin besteht die Chance, Musik noch gezielter in der Therapie einzusetzen“, sagt der Mediziner. Er denke dabei nicht nur an Erkrankungen des Herzens, sondern an alle Felder, wo Musik heute schon eingesetzt wird.
