Deep, tropical, housy, jazzy, but not limited to one genre or style, this EP is the quintessence of different influences and preferences applied magnificently onto 4 very club-friendly tracks.

Dersu and Gomorra are both experienced djs and producers from Basel, Switzerland. They have distinctive musical personalities - Dersu is a member of the exotic Alma Negra trio while Gomorra is more techno-oriented - but when they come together, a new breed of feel-good music is born.

Although they're both seasoned producers, Dersu and Gomorra debuted together in 2014 on Miajica's Space Future Communication EP, so this is a first chance for this exciting duo to get the attention of both leftfield house DJs and their audience.

We believe this collection of tracks, whether it's played to soothe a crowd, create a main moment or provoke a sunrise frenzy, will be a lasting emotional experience.

The Squirrels from San Francisco are back and they're wearing white after Labor Day — pressing up a limited white-label 12", an Amsterdam Dance Event special, full of the throbbing electro, altered-states body music, and head-in-the-clouds techno you've come to expect from Squirrels on Film.

It wasn't long ago that a particular material girl declared that we are living in a material world, and sadly, that refrain now rings truer than ever. Thank God for the Material Squirrel, then, some unknown player (with a familiar sound…!) whose "Material World" is a devastating electro jam, elevated into the stratosphere by a bassline so big it's silly. Lokier, from Mexico City but residing in Berlin, comes after the anonymous Squirrel to present "Headless," a murky, slower tune with swirling arpeggios and whip-crack percussion that recalls the sound of Belgium and Germany circa '89-'92.  

On the B-side, Billy Bates — an old-school San Franciscan with credentials in new wave outfit The Vanishing and the more left-field Autonervous — offers up "Got It," featuring funky percussion entwined around a squirrely (no pun intended) synthesizer, like classic jackin' house on some heavy psychedelics. Last but certainly not least is head Squirrel honcho Solar, closing out with "Anoesis" (defined as 'a state of mind consisting of pure sensation without cognition'), a heady techno escapade that slowly builds and unfurls across the cosmos in seven minutes.

- R&S welcome Dutch dance icon Maarten van der Vleuten back into the fold.
- ‘Outrage’ is a compilation of Maarten van der Vleuten’s Integrity project tracks, originally released on R&S sub-label Outrage Recordings in 1992, now remastered by Matt Colton
- Features collaborations with Mike Kivits (aka DJ Aardvarck).

Maarten van der Vleuten is one of the most influential figures in the Dutch scene, and also a man of many aliases - between 1987 to 2007 he racked up releases with over two dozen projects producing Detroit techno, electro, house, experimental and ambient tracks and remixes.

Still highly active and inspired in 2018, R&S see the Outrage release as a perfect opportunity to re-introduce Van der Vleuten’s masterful productions to a new generation, adding to his existing influential fans such as Optimo, Global Communication, Ellen Allien and Dave Clarke.

During the 90s he recorded mainly dance/techno for R&S Records, as Orpheus, 48V Phantom Power and Mantrax. He also memorably released on Apollo Records (check his excellent In-Existence ‘Moonwater’ album), Djax-Up-Beats, See Saw and Klang Elektronik amongst others. 

Van Der Vleuten’s ongoing collaboration with R&S founder Renaat Vanderpapeliere saw the later set up Outrage Recordings in early 1992 to release Van der Vleuten’s tracks that didn't fit on R&S Records, recording as Integrity, Zimt, Flux and Pultec. 

“Every couple of weeks i would drive up to Ghent with my new tracks and meet Renaat,” explains Martin. "We then went straight to Foon Mastering where we played the DATs and decided which tracks would be cut - i had carte blanche when it came to the 'sound' of the label. 

Van der Vleuten’s music on Outrage Recordings moved in the opposite direction of the contemporary rave and gabber scenes; while Techno became faster and shifted to a more aggressive sound, Van der Vleuten focused more on composing and arranging over danceability.  This resulted in these EP’s being difficult to sell back in 92 but listening now it feels vital and fresh well over two decades since they were recorded which is an obvious sign of 
Van Der Vleuten’s deft talent.

The release also includes Van der Vleuten’s collaborations with another dutch icon, Mike Kivits (aka DJ Aardvarck). The pair first met In 1989 when Kivits would sometimes play his demos on cassette-tapes at local clubs. The pair became fast friends and Van Der Vieuten invited Kivits into the studio where they found a natural chemistry that ultimately resulted in the tracks ‘Nightshift’ and ‘Intens’ which feature on ‘Outrage’, both written and recorded on the same day.

Maarten van der Vleuten Presents Integrity - Living In A Fantasy' (1992)

Ryan James Ford’s productions are rarely anything other than inspired. Through regular releases on Marcel Dettmann Records, Answer Code Request and his own SHUT imprint, Ford has proved to be an exciting producer, capable of mangling sounds and styles to fit his wide-ranging musical vision.
The Berlin-based Canadian arrives on Happy Skull with a label debut that dramatically emphasizes the point. While each of the four tracks features audible nods to a wealth of influences and inspirations, the bold individuality of the resultant cuts all but renders such comparisons redundant.
For example, EP opener “Ormst Kaban”, whose wild, crashing, off-grid breakbeats and twisted, foreboding electronics aggressively spar with glacial chords and icy textures. The 16 bit arpeggio lines of 'Hobrv Kegdit' are underpinned by powerful sub-bass tones and industrial drum-breaks that merge to create a densely sprawling mass of dance floor melancholia.
This pattern continues throughout the EP, with “Slown Ridel” and “Nos Ummi” balancing skittish, noise-seeped percussion with the dreamy, glassy-eyed swell of classic ambient and pioneering early ‘90s IDM.
