Recording of my set at the lovely @lloveit Open-Air Festival in Stuttgart at a secret spot deep in the woods, saturday afternoon, June 6th 2015. No need for a warm up -it was mad hot! I decided to play only records by artists from Detroit, the home of true house and techno music and had great fun under the burning sun. :)  2 Technics 1210, Omnitronic TRM 202 and loooots of vinyl. Vinyl only mix with records only by artists from Detroit on labels from Detroit exclusively - bought in Record Stores in Detroit at Submerge and Peoples Records during my visit in August 2015.  
Much Love and a big thank you to DJ Steve Miller at Spectacles, Detroit, who gave me his record "Dancing Cosmos". I love it! Two tracks are included in this mix. It was so nice meeting you. 
And much much love and an even bigger THANK YOU to DJ John Collins of Underground Resistance for a wonderful afternoon at the worlds first and only Techno Museum, Exhibit 3000 at Submerge, that I will never forget. Hope to see you again some day!

That amazing new Omar-S Album "The Best" arrived yesterday and inspired me to do a Detroit Mix again - so I sat down with the sunshine and a big grin in my face and recorded this vinyl only mix in one take. All records are by artists from Detroit, the birthplace of real DeepHouse and Techno!  As always I used only my 2 Technics 1210 and my beloved rotary mixer.

Motorcity Sunshine (Detroit Exclusive, Vinyl Only Mix)

I mixed some of my personal favorite tracks by James Stinson and Gerald Donald aka DREXCIYA to create an underwater journey - dive in and enjoy the real vintage Detroit electro goodness.

The journey (TRACKLIST) goes a little something like this:

After taking a glimpse at a NUCLEAR FACELIFT at TEMPLE OF DOS DE AQUA we are DRIFTING INTO A TIME OF NO FUTURE with our Lardossen cruiser 8-203X. When we reach BUBBLE METROPOLIS, we are granted entrance to Drexciya by Drexciyan cruise controller X205 and our trip begins. We cross AQUARAZORDA and see the mysterious SPECIES OF THE POD at the beautiful ANDREAN SAND DUNES. We experience a wonderful DIMENSIONAL GLIDE but all of a sudden face some UNDERSEA DISTURBANCES caused by DR. BLOWFIN´S BLACK STORM STABALIZING SPHERES and sink deeper and deeper. We run a TONIMPULSTEST but some SUPERIOR RACE blocks the DATA TRANSFER to THE PLANKTON ORGANISATION via a DIGITAL TSUNAMI. We are lost in the deep; according to the HYDRO THEORY we must be somewhere BEYOND THE ABYSS. But then - we are floating up! UNORDINARY REALITIES - seeing light coming through the sea again feels like the BIRTH OF NEW LIFE. Back at the surface, with tears in our eyes we start singing: LET ME BE who I wanna be…

ANDREW WOWK - ISOLECTIONS 011

Versatility is a quality that is embodied in the style of Vincenzo Pizzi, an Italian producer who works in a musical context based on the harshness and rawness of techno, but always starting from this genre as a basis for all his subsequent development, as an influence that expands with breaks, advanced electronica and electronic sounds.

Vincenzo is the head of Pyteca, a label he founded in 2016 and which houses his latest album. Archivio is a 9-track release that stands out for its diversity, as it combines fast and broken rhythms with the rhythmic immutability of techno. Each track is a completely different story from the rest, the album does not have to follow a stipulated or agreed upon line, with patterns that can give indications of what the listener is going to hear, but rather it is a multiple connection, united by forcefulness.

Release date: September 28th, 2020.

December 2020 Mix(Techno/Electro Mix)

After a short holiday break we are happy to share the next Rubber Tijd with you. We warmly welcome our first artist of the year and number 81 on the show: Eddie Peake. 

For this podcast Peake presents Memory Cycle 2, an audio piece from a series of sound works he has been making in recent years.

“They are an attempt to recreate as definitive recordings the live DJ sets I play in my performance work. Whereas in my performances they are ephemeral and reactive, here they are somewhat more calculated, although in both instances, chance and coincidence is important. They are collages of looping motifs drawn from a palette of original recordings, voice memos and field-recordings to evoke a sense of nostalgia, the subjective and inaccurate nature of memories, the repetitive and spiralling ideation of an obsessive or psychopathic mind.”

Eddie Peake is a London based Artist and DJ and his work includes performance, video, photography, painting, sculpture, sound and installation. It has tended to take the form of non-linear, immersive exhibitions, usually presented as a web of incongruously and yet inextricably connected discrete objects. Looping or repetitive forms are a prominent element, as is the theme of the inadequacy of verbal language in representing phenomena such as emotions, memories or modes of communication which are not verbal. Another of its foci is the implicit drama within relationships between people, whether they are familial, professional, romantic, sexual or social, and how desire, sexuality, socio-political and cultural constructs, as well as psychological states such as depression impact on them. Peake also DJs under a pseudonym and runs a record label imprint called Hymn.
