Joel Nicholson first gave us a glimpse of his deepest thoughts three years ago with his debut as Butcher The Bar ‘Sleep At Your Own Speed’, an album that dealt with the fleet-footed uncertainties of growing up - recorded in the intimate light of his bedroom. 
Since then Joel has moved into a whole house in Manchester, the rooms of which must be sunny and flooded with light, for the latest songs, with all their delicate melodies, conjure up images of sparkling particles of dust dancing in the sunlight. 
Taken as a whole, the songs on ‘For Each A Future Tethered’ make an album, and its an album with which Joel not only continues telling his own personal story, but which adds a new chapter to the history of great song writing in the tradition of musicians like Nick Drake, Paul Simon and Elliott Smith.

Nicholson has also shown new sides to his creativity in his arrangements. While the songs on the debut album were largely based on the traditional folk instrumentation of guitar, banjo and vocals, on ‘For Each A Future Tethered’ there’s a wider range of musical accompaniment, with the inclusion of trumpets, clarinets, harmoniums and pianos to name a few, resulting in a richer, fuller sound. The music is somewhat reminiscent of label mates Seabear, on ‘Bobby’ for example, but also of indie-pop greats such as The Lucksmiths. Some songs – like the confident lullaby ‘Cradle Song’ and ‘Blood For The Breeze’ - could be folk standards, while others set new standards for folk music. Right from the word go, the opening number ‘Sign Your Name’ shows an astonishing measure of depth and tremendous fluidity, where Joel's voice becomes entwined in the sound of the instruments. Butcher The Bar play folk-pop with a big heart, and anyone who ever wanted to throw their arms around the whole world should feel loved back when listening to this album.

In 2015, Cico Beck ( Joasihno, Aloa Input, the Notwist ) and Markus Acher ( the Notwist, Tied & Tickled Trio, Rayon ) started the project "You + Your D.Metal Friend" as a collective for improvisations and ideas apart from their other bands. 
They will experiment with different settings and instrumentations and will collaborate with other artists for the music and the cover-artwork.
For "Sonnier", their first recordings, Cico and Markus started with percussion instruments from around the globe, analogue synthesizers and all kinds of acoustic and electronic devices to layer music that sounds like the memory of Gamelan, Italian library-records and minimal electronic experimentation... music, they listened to a lot before recording.
"Sonnier" will be available on vinyl (incl. download-code), limited to 300 for the world, and will not be repressed and digital only. Packaged in heavy-cardboard-LP-covers from second-hand records, they collected from their local record-stores with a screen-printed and numbered artwork glued on it. Designed by Richard Greenan from kit-records, London, and printed by Senor Burns (Red Can). Each cover is unique and hand numbered.

Back in November 2016, we've had the great pleasure to celebrate 5 years of UM:LAUT with Markus Acher's project Rayon. With his numerous bands and collaborations (The Notwist, Lali Puna, Tied & Tickled Trio, 13 & God...) Markus Acher has contributed various relevant and exciting chapters to the recent history of music, thereby constantly re-exploring his sound universe and repeatedly widening the horizon of pop music. Within the series of UM:LAUT, Rayon presented the album "A Beat of Silence" (Morr Music) for the first time live and in one of the rare concerts with a full band and an extensive instrumentation.

Special thanks to Markus and the band for the great performance. And cheers to Carlo Grippa for the amazing sound, the recordings and the mastering.

Populous is Andrea Mangia, a producer hailing from Lecce, a small city on the heel of Italy's boot. In 2003, he made his first jaunt into the music world with the album Quipo (via Morr Music). In 2005 he released Queue For Love, influenced by his reggae/hip-hop-infused surroundings (Lecce is known as Italy's Jamaica, as reggae and dancehall are extremely popular there) and in 2008 he released Drawn in Basic. Both albums were widely received by international critics, earning him a spot on the global music map. He became known for the way he seamlessly blends digital sounds with the analog warmth of soul/hip-hop/whatever else he's influenced by at the time.

In 2014, he released Night Safari via Bad Panda Records. The album, for Populous, was the embodiment of a dream. "This record is an imaginary nighttime safari to discover uncontaminated landscapes, strange creatures, wild animals, and mysterious lights," he told Thump Magazine. The record received praise from international media outlets, and was revered for its ability to sonically transcend borders.

Azulejos, his forthcoming release, has a South American tinge to it (and is even partly in Spanish). He moved to Lisbon, Portugal to start work on the album bringing with him only a laptop, a small MIDI keyboard, and a microphone. "Lisbon became both my studio and my muse," he says. He wandered the city collecting field recordings— from trams to people singing on street corners. He sifted through flea markets for records to use for sampling (exclusively Portuguese and South American). Populous describes Lisbon as a city 'halfway between South American soul and European modernity, African in some aspects, and dramatically melancholic." He channeled these poignant fusions into Azulejos, named for the typical tiled facades in Portugal— simultaneously bright and decaying. The album features collaborations with Nina Miranda of Smoke City and Ela Minus, among others. It's a love letter to Lisbon, and a dreamy quilt of sounds he both grew up with and heard for the first time during his influential stay in Portugal.

Zayaendo is a Tokyo-based brassband, colorful, unique and adventurous...you won’t find any of the typical brass-bands-cliches here, nor are they a free-unit of improvisors…they nothing less then invited their own genre...Zayaendo Music !
Zayaendo was formed in 2016 by Saya (Tenniscoats, Spirit Fest) and Satomi Endo (Biobiopatata) after Saya was inspired by a performance of the acoustic instrumental band Hochzeitskapelle, who she saw in Munich. 
The band also includes Tomoaki Saito, Masaharu Seki (sekifu), Takashi Ueno (Tenniscoats), Kiyokazu Onozaki (Andersens, 2B) and other musicians who play with other bands or as solo artists. Zayaendo consists of somewhere between ten and twenty musicians (depending on who is available to play at that time) and forms an orchestra that plays each other’s compositions as well as covers of experimental timeless masterpieces. Since the band play acoustic instruments, their performance venues vary from the street to the forest. 

In 2018, the band played at the Alien Disko Festival #3 with their beloved Hochzeitskapelle, where together they took part in a parade through the streets of Munich to celebrate and ring in the festival. In 2019, their first album Zayaendo music was released on the majikick label, and now, as vinyl, by Alien Transistor, Munich.
