Crescent Sensi

Born in Watford, Hertfordshire, England in 1987, and migrating with family to Brisbane Australia at the age of 8. Morthotech was always heavily influenced by sub culture music, starting at Ska, Reggae and later discovered Hip-Hop. Always having a passion for digging in vinyl crates, his collection grew vast very quickly and was not slowing down, until he grew tired of Hip-hop culture and started to lose interest mainly in modern Hip-Hop. “ I love Hip-Hop but it was full of shady characters and I started losing my passion, and felt like there was a different calling for me.” After years of collecting vinyl and attempting to push out production, finally he rediscovered his roots in Ska music. Also in coordination from religious beliefs, Mortho fell in love immediately to the sounds he was chasing. At this time Mortho was still listening to a lot of late 90’s early 2000’s Hip-Hop but still hunting that Ska music sound, and was soon to discover the majestic sounds of Drum & Bass.
With the heavy influence of Hip-Hop, Morthotech one day flipped a Uk Hip-Hop 12” plate to check out a remix. This remix was: MC D – Alright, featuring: The Ragga Twins by Benny Page from the year 2007. For a long time Mortho had no idea what this sound was called and one day his cousin from the Uk heard it and explained that it was Drum & Bass. So one curious Mortho the kid set out to discover more, and found that same old Ska, Reggae feeling being strongly pushed out by Jungle / Ragga Drum & Bass. Then the vinyl addiction resurfaced and Morthotech then knew what he had to do ..Mix D&B.
It wasn’t much sooner after that he started to hunt the scene down and was hungry to get more involved. One day he decided to get back on Facebook and connect with local heads. He decided he would let the heads come to him and started up a facebook page representing D&B in Brisbane. Very swiftly Junglists all over Brisbane joined the page and it started to govern itself. Promoters used it to post their flyers, Producers used it to share their tunes and Djs used it to share their mixes. This page started to govern itself until Mortho decided to spread this passion and make this page interactive and get people communicating. Making so many new friends which he believes is no longer just an online community, but literally a family, this did not slow down and the page rapidly became a family now known as BRISM: Brisbane Skanking Massive.
Since then Morthotech became well learned in mixing Jungle / Drum & Bass on vinyl and started connecting with as many heads as possible. To his amazement, the Djs that he admired started inviting him to mix on their home rigs, and eventually was invited to feature his debut performance on Auzcast. After a while Mortho has streamed his own Auzcast sessions live from BRISM HQ and believes he has contributed to the scene in Brisbane. Since getting the runners up in the Home Grown Freqs competition, this journey has not stopped and continues to push forward.
Still feeling like the new kid, Morthotech has now joined with Brisbanes most wicked, PROPPA! Where he can celebrate the majesty of Jungle / Drum & Bass with like-minded DJs as a crew! No things wont slow down for this Junglist and certainly not for the PROPPA Crew!
