Mortimore Mix #001 - NAV3

Jackson McNamara, better known as Makk, is a Naarm/Melbourne producer & DJ, establishing himself in the local dance music scene. 

House in techno and pure groove are some words to describe the nature of Makk’s productions and mixes. With a knack for swinging basslines, hard hitting drums and groovy & dreamy chords, Makk presents all these sounds for the second instalment of our Mortimore Mix series 💖

Delivering us a fast-paced mix with some hard-hitting techno, HYPERTHERMIA’s high energy sound consists of palettes from old-skool rave to the new wave of techno, guaranteed to get you moving 🕺

As one of Melbourne’s current sought-after dance producers, Ned Bennett’s eclectic range and attention to detail within his productions and mixes has greatly propelled his name in the last year. If you’ve been to a club or event in Naarm’s underground dance scene, there is no doubt you’ve heard a track from the man himself.

In this mix, Ned delivers us a stream of groovy and tribal techno blends with selections from the past and present, along with an assortment of his own meticulous productions 🔊

Two of our label-heads, KIKO TESLA (Nikola) and scriv (Cody), have teamed up on this one, bringing you an emotive & energetic house track. Drawing inspiration from and sampling Stu Allen’s UK hardcore remix of MC Lethal’s “The Rave Digger”, KIKO & scriv have created their modernised interpretation of this 90s belter.

Bringing you the sixth instalment of our Mortimore Mix series is morgan bitters, a Naarm based DJ and producer who’s tracks have been making noise in the local underground scene, as well as across the globe. Along with his role in the local collective @outerresidents, morgan is definitely a name to keep an eye out for.

With his skillset as a DJ and a wide array of music taste, Morgan has delivered us a fully-loaded, high energy mix of tracks from himself & friends, to many namely producers of the scene.

Mortimore Mix #006 - Morgan Bitters

Next up on the Mortimore roster is a newcomer by the name of XAVIER. Establishing himself in Naarm’s underground scene, XAVIER is eager to showcase his abilities as a solid selector in this mix he has delivered us.

Exploring the darker edge of hardgroove in this mix, artists such as Daria Kolosova and KI/KI inspire the aesthetic and energy of XAVIER’s sets. Having grown up with The Prodigy and citing X Club as one of his biggest production inspirations, XAVIER weaves the sounds of his favourite artists to create his own vision in both mixing and producing.

Be sure to check out his recent debut self-release on Soundcloud, titled “Scroll Behaviour”, merging textures of ambient music with dark grooves of techno, this track shows great promise for what is to come from XAVIER.

Mortimore Mix #008 featuring Bubba

Our Mortimore guest mix this week comes from the very talented Bubba. Campbell is a Naarm based DJ and producer, making himself known playing at events such as One Day Events, Agadah and Cicadas Music Room takeover just to name a few. 

Bubbas sound is distinct and very much his own, with his mixes and sets wall to wall with 90’s and 2000’s dance music. From house to garage to rave, Bubbas guest mix is packed with variety and new and old sounds likely not heard for a minute.

Mortimore Mix #009 featuring Kettledrum 

Next up in the mix is Naarm based DJ/producer Kettledrum. Bringing us an eclectic selection of grooves from house to techno, Kettledrum is bound to no genre as he takes us on a seamless yet unpredictable journey in this mix.

Known for his heavyweight productions in the Naarm underground scene, most notably his “The Now” EP on @abode.label and his remix of @djhomeinvader’s track “8skip”, these productions have garnered Kettledrum well-deserved praise from local and international talent.

Mortimore Mix #010 featuring KJONES

For our 10th instalment in our Mortimore Mix series we introduce KJONES, who has put together an exciting mix for us consisting of breaks, electro, garage and drum & bass. With 34 tracks in just under an hour, each blend will leave you wondering what’s coming next. 

You may recognise KJONES as being half of RUSH HOUR, which is both a hard-house duo making waves in the scene as well as a radio segment on Area3000. As a solo artist, KJONES has played across some of Naarm’s most iconic venues such as Section 8, Xe54 and New Guernica supporting garage heavy hitters such as Conducta and Notion.

Mortimore Mix #011 featuring Cassettes For Kids

What more can be said about Cassettes For Kids? Having played at most major festivals in Australia as well as a Boiler Room set under his belt, Cassettes is no stranger to the Naarm and Australian dance scene. With varying styles and genres in his mixing skillset, each set and mix from Zak offers something different to the last. Same can be said for the mix he has delivered us which consists of old disco and house heaters as well as plenty of UK garage. 

Cassettes has recently started up a new record label called @pointofyoulabel where he has dropped two singles titled ‘Your Love’ and ‘Focus’ since it’s launch. As for upcoming releases on his label, Zak plans to release an EP at the end of the month. Cassettes will also be running a party in late September with some local legends so keep your eyes peeled 👀

Joining us for the 12th Mortimore Mix is another locally based DJ & Producer by the name of LEPSI, who has brought us a clean blend of techno hard-hitters including a handful of Naarm-based artists and three of his own unreleased tracks.

LEPSI is an emerging artist within the Melbourne dance scene. With two killer self-released EPs and a sought after single release planned for the distant future, LEPSI is a name to keep your eye out for.

Mortimore Mix #013 featuring Black Dave

This week we are thrilled to be joined by Black Dave, an experienced DJ/producer of the Naarm dance scene. 

Black Dave has had a strong presence in Naarms dance scene, playing across most of Melbournes most iconic venues like @revolverupstairs and @newguernica, as well as being part of @marination__ and @altitudeeventsau. Dave has also supported the likes of blk., subjoi, Luke Hovey as well as Beau Didier, proving he has truely carved a name for himself in Naarms dance scene. Dave’s tracks have also been making waves recently on Soundcloud both through his self-release and various labels including HOUZ, PULZAR & a new release out on @transition_ofc just today‼️🔊

For his Mortimore Mix, Dave has delivered us some punchy groovers with techno, hard groove and a sprinkling of trance as well. Packed with heaps of heavy hitters, this mix is definitely not one to miss. 🚨🤗

Next up on our roster is none other than Ango. Hailing from Melbourne/Naarm, Ango is a 20 year old DJ & producer, specialising in his blend of emotional & euphoric soundscapes with a hard hitting low-end, ready to make you dance & cry.

Carving a name for himself with his signature production style, Ango has created waves with tracks such as “Shine On Me” via @underground_sound along with his various Soundcloud releases. With an array of singles via @shelteraus including his gorgeous new release “Every Time”, Ango shows no signs of stopping as a natural hit-maker.

In this mix, Ango has delivered us a colourful and energetic mix of house & garage including some of his past releases & his most sought-after IDs.

Mortimore Mix #015 featuring Mordi

This week in the mix we have another Naarm based DJ by the name of Mordi, bringing us a refreshing mix of proggy grooves and rave reminiscent sounds 😵‍💫

Mordi’s style covers a range of palettes from old school dub, prog and trance to rave and house influenced music, Mordi has found herself exploring a wide array of genres to express her sound as a DJ 🔊

From her Dr Dan’s set at Beyond The Valley 2022, Mordi’s name has greatly propelled into Naarm’s underground dance scene as one of the city’s finest selectors. Having played at an array of clubs & events in Melbourne, Mordi is quickly proving herself as a selector to keep your eye out for.

Mortimore Mix #016 featuring Dresscode

This weeks mix comes from Dresscode, a rising star in Naarms dance music scene as a DJ, producer and event organiser. 

Tate Downes, aka Dresscode, is already making a name for himself at such a young age. Having co-founded @sampler.naarm with his brother @olliedownes, Tate is building a repertoire as both an artist and a a prominent figure in dance events across the city. With a set at the iconic Section 8 as well as playing with naarm collective @bubbleukg, Tate is a formidable DJ to keep an eye on. 

Dresscode has delivered us a mix stacked with 2-step, UKG and DnB flavours with an ID of his own coming out later this year. Keep your eyes peeled for that one.

Kicking off our mix series for 2024, we are excited to welcome Geelong based DJ & Producer, Harry Connell, as our first guest of the year! 🫶🏼

Through his releases via Nektar Records & Transition as well as his own self releases, Harry’s raw & hard-hitting tracks have been garnering attention both nationally & overseas.

Known for his relentless & groovy productions & selections, Harry has delivered us an hour of finely selected hardgroove bits featuring some of his own productions, along with other greats of the scene both old & new.

As a newcomer to the Naarm’s underground dance scene, wax thief brings us an exciting array of dance music in this digital & vinyl mix, making this our first hybrid mix! 

With years of experience in mixing and creating dance music under different alias’, wax thief shifted his sonic focus toward garage, hard house and new-skool trance. 

Featuring his forthcoming material in the mix, as well as his released work, wax thief presents us his colourful and bouncy approach to different dance styles.
