I left school 40 years ago when Thatcherism and " greed is good" took hold . There is no doubt that at first the idea that we were now all mini capitalists  made many people wealthier but it has created a country of huge wealth inequality that is now slowly reversing many of those gains. Unaffordable housing, cuts to public services, increases in child poverty , homelessness and reduced social mobility are all the products of forty years of failed policy. It has given us a country more divided than ever , in thrall to the idea of money and finance and reliant on a war based economy that places us in the top three arms manufacturers on the globe.  Forty years in the making, forty years in the breaking.
