Before Perc’s eagerly awaited second album ‘The Power And The Glory’ is released, Perc Trax is offering up this first glimpse of one of the album's key moments. ‘Take Your Body Off’ is the album’s most focused club track and has already been road-tested by Perc across Europe at gigs ranging from small basement clubs to 5,000 strong festival crowds. 

Built upon a foundation of stabbing kick drums, rolling triplet snare patterns and a wall of sub bass, the track is completed by the vocals of Dan Chandler of London noise rock outfit Dethscalator. The piercing, guttural vocals, more akin to the short sharp shock of a metal performance provide the kind of sonic jolt techno used to trade in, yet which is rarely heard these days.

Opening up the first of two Wicker & Steel remix EPs is CLR’s Tommy Four Seven, a producer whose own debut album came out to a great response earlier this year. Tommy switches Start Chopping’s 4/4 rhythms for his own broken beat foundation and adds a whole new world of bass to the track. The original’s pads echo around the soundscape as each break brings back a tougher version of the beat.  

Next up are Warp/Dust Science/Soma legends The Black Dog. Keeping Gonkle’s beating heart in place they add subtle synths lines and pads to add a melancholic edge to one of Wicker & Steel’s tougher tracks, without ever losing any of the original’s impact. 

On the flip-side we witness the first ever collaboration between London producers Sigha (Blueprint/Hot Flush) and Truss (Stroboscopic Artefacts/Perc Trax). Combining their love of techno with a bass music mentality the duo serve up a jackin’ semi-broken groove topped off with all manner of drones and rhythmic effects. 

Finally ASC, one of the stars of Instra:mental’s Nonplus stable makes his Perc Trax debut, cutting up the now familiar industrial drum assault of ‘My Head Is Slowly Exploding’ into an Autonomic style 170bpm stepper. A move away from the typically smooth Autonomic sound this is something completely new. Industrial –tinged D&B that is a world away from the apocalyptic No U-Turn sound of the mid to late 90’s.

Scalameriya returns to Perc Trax after the success of 2016's 'Kepslok'. Since then he has continued to break new ground both as a solo artist and via his ongoing collaboration with Italian producer VSK, playing across Europe and releasing on a number of key labels whilst growing his own Genesa imprint. 

Now for his first release of 2018 he takes a giant leap forward both musically and technically with the three track statement of intent that is his 'Hellzone Megapunk EP'. Each track demonstrates new techniques and approaches not heard in his music before, from the 4/4 versus broken beat cage fight of the title track to Crucible's rolling polyrhythms and the otherworldly processed vocals of the closing track. 

As the first Perc Trax release of the year this EP sets out everything the label seeks to achieve, a combination of sonic innovation that manages to keep attention fully focussed on the dance floor at all times.

After contributing to the label with a remix on the 10th release, SDB is back with an EP on Märked, featuring three originals and two remixes by AERT and Repro. The closing track of this EP is called 'Symphony' for a reason. Starting off peacefully, the break evolves slowly into a trance-like anthem before it creates a drastic shift into no-nonsense straight-forward techno.
