After three years of releasing several EPs and a few longplayers it's been time for Mo's Ferry Prod. to present a new selection of the label catalogue. New faces joint the artist pool, respected remixers were found and not to forget the ongoing musical development of long time fellows. The German term "Eisbrecher" means icebreaker. This can be taken quite literally, but it's not necessary.

Last fall, Dapayk & Padberg released "Smoke", their most sinister, most atmospheric and most peculiar album to date. Just in time for the upcoming summer season the Berlin-based electronica duo and notable artists from the Mo's Ferry label ask for the dance floor again playing their "Smoke Family Remixes".
Back and forth from the floor to the lounge to the floor: After having presented their fourth album in a darker and more reflective tone, singer Eva Padberg and musician / producer Niklas Worgt let the sun shine once again! Dapayk & Padberg asked their "family acts" to remix this album, which is a chamber-electro-mix full of dubstep structures, catchy pop elements, classical strings and intimate singer-songwriter elements. The result is "Smoke Family Remix", an airy, chilly, highly danceable club makeover for the upcoming summer season!
Experimental remixes and reworks belong to Dapayk's tradition. After the original versions have been tuned to achieving maximum club compatibility during their live performances, now the official remix collection follows. "I think the basic colour of our last album was a little bit too dark for many listeners. So we now present the remixes with a more accessible touch", says D&P Mastermind Niklas Worgt. On "Smoke Family Remixes" Dapayk & Padberg selected DJs and musicians from the small but fine Mo's Ferry label and asked for a reinterpretation of their last longplayer - with some surprising results.
Douglas Greed transformed the dreamy-supernatural "Dance In Your Flame" into a flowing, slightly rough, but also light ambient track. The dub / techhouse piece "Gingembre" got a treatment by Sebastian Russell with a new melody and new sampling elements. The orchestral "Silent Fireworks" wears in Marek Hemmann's remix a groovy club outfit. "We are extremely pleased to work with all these artists and to have them on our album", Niklas Worgt continues. "They all represent the signature sound of Mo's Ferry, which we intend to expand this year even further. A sound, somewhere between techhouse and rather more experimental stuff. It was very exciting for us to see how other artists interpret and modify our tracks. Eva and I were sometimes extremely surprised in what direction the originals were taken. There are ideas we would never have dreamt of. But that's the point eventually: To emphasize new and different facets. It's all about interaction with others, to be inspired and to collect new influences. It is simply an incredibly great thing to see how for example Darlyn Vlys made a true club hammer remix out of a melancholic original track like 'No Words'!"
So much is revealed: This autumn there will be a sequel to "Smoke - Remixes"!

Mo's Ferry presents Kleinschmager Audio with a new dj mix for May 2014. Kleinschmager has been djing a lot since his latest "Auris EP" release on our sublabel RRYGULAR. His sets are always a continuous flow regardless of whether he plays digital or vinyl. In the last few weeks he has taken the chance to spend some time in the studio again. We're really looking forward to release some new tracks in the second halfyear. In the meantime please enjoy his set.

Mo's Ferry release #57 is a vinyl re-release of two true classics from the label catalogue. Dapayk & Padberg “Island” is a special result of a collaboration with the American singer and producer Caro. The original track came out in 2007 on their second album “Black Beauty”. But the choice for this record is the “Swimming Circles Remix” by the Parisian dj and producer duo Noze (of Circus Company and Get Physical fame). Originally released on the B side of “Black Beauty Rmxs Pt.2” the remix developed into a prominent long runner for the artists and the label. In 2005 “Emergency” by Dapayk & Midnight marked the birth of Mo's Ferry's first sublabel fenou. The 10inch record was released as a limited edition of 1.000 copies, each stamped by hand with a consecutive number. This first and only edition is out of stock for years now and if you're lucky you can buy a rare copy on Discogs. Reason enough to bring this track on a new Mo's Ferry vinyl release.

Mo's Ferry Mix 5-16 by Solid Slap

With the release of their last album “Smoke” (2013) Dapayk & Padberg moved to a listening oriented direction, that also works perfectly off the dance floor. The new single "Sink This Ship" underlines their decision to follow this path in the future ... maybe even with their upcoming album "Harbour" later this year. On "Sink This Ship" Eva Padberg unfolds her matured voice, which shows more confidence than on previous records. Dapayk skillfully puts her voice in a shared scenery, where the straight beats are no longer to be found which leaves room for extravagances and inventions.
However, they are not completely turning their heads away from the club sound. Two of the most sought-after remix artists at the moment, Robot Koch and Bebetta, ensure the suitability for the dance floor. Robot Koch artfully disassembles (for which he is known) the original. Primarily he builds his version on the emotional base of Eva's vocal part and Dapayk's warm bass line. However, on the flip side, there is almost a contrasting change. The slight melancholy of the original track gives way for a typical Bebetta Techhouse Beat, that flows through the club in a dreamy, yet simply irresistible manner.

He mixed and compiled “Selected Vibes, Vol.5”, was part of our Mo's Ferry takeover Boiler Room in Berlin and not to mention the long nights he spent in the studio for this release. From more techno-ish beats to even more experimental sound design to new harmonic surroundings… the release of the five remixes doesn't want to fit in a single drawer - and that's totally the intention.

Mo's Ferry presents a brand new super groovy house EP by [a]pendics.shuffle and Dilo. Two years ago their first release on the label was filed under their alter ego Cascabel Gentz. Now, after making the decision to reveal themselves to us, the new tracks feel even more personal and heart warming. On the A side is the driving but also kind of trippy "Wonderful Wonderfall". Dapayk's remix adds more definition to the track and moves it towards the techy department. The deep "Drifting Away" on the B side impresses with beautiful laid-back vocals embedded in a dreamy cloud of slowly spinning pads. Kenneth Scott partly waived the deepness to give room for extensive and creative bassline work. This is another wide range Mo's Ferry release.

Mo’s Ferry Prod. officially exists since mid 2001. But that's not the real beginning of it all. This was more like in the early 90s when todays label owners Niklas Worgt and Jan Langhammer ran into each other in school. Anyway, the release date of the first and real "mfp" vinyl is a perfect joint starting point.
The music of Mo's Ferry Prod. can be perfectly described by the words of a well-respected colleague: "This music offers a way out of the one-way street regarding the groan of minimal techno. Mo's Ferry releases are uncomfortable, dodgy, angular, groany and self-containt - to this day. No going back to the big ingredient range of the last 15 years of techno and house, no electro thingumbob, and of course no whatsoever clash" (Mathias Schaffhaeuser / Beam). Well, here's nothing much to add, apart from... By now, the label has its standing and the release policy still follows the more inconvienient way. It's not acceptable constantly exhausting the standards and hypes. What about distinction and variety? For other musical playgrounds the Mo's Ferry sublabels fenou and RRYGULAR were created in 2005. And that's it... that's the way how to search and find their standing in the world of the electronic music biz.
