Berlin-based Chimp Hardy delivers the rave ready alternative Valentine’s Day anthem, ‘Every Piece Of My Heart’ on his Kaiser Wilhelm Records label, proving why he is one of the one of the most captivating and exciting artists in electronic music.

Released on 9 February, with ‘Every Piece Of My Heart’, Chimp Hardy takes no prisoners with the deep, dark and atmospheric track which distils the best of vintage acid house and ‘90s rave, with hypnotic and distorted cresendoing piano house chords, thumping percussion, swirling strings, and Chimp’s own anthemic vocal, pitched up to give it a feminine edge and put through a cassette recorder to cement the DIY rave and after-party credentials. 

Chimp Hardy describes ‘Every Piece Of My Heart’ as “a song about the excitement of love, when we feel like the other person completes us.” When writing the piano melody, he was influenced by fellow Texan Janis Joplin singing ‘Piece of My Heart’, so this is the Chimp Hardy take of that classic song. As a homage to Janis Joplin’s hippie time period, he added psychedelic pedal effects, crescendoing pianos and poignant strings to give a feeling of the excitement of growing love. 

Part club kid, part urban shaman, queer artist Chimp Hardy is no stranger to controversy. The Berlin-based, Austin, Texas, born DJ and producer challenges his audiences to go out of their mind. Body painted and partially naked, he creates a post-apocalyptic tribal utopia where everyone is free to let go and leave their restrictions at the door. His sets transcend all boundaries, taking dancers on a journey from Chicago House to G-house, Breaks, Rave, and Techno. With releases on legendary Chicago House label TRAX Records and on his own Kaiser Wilhelm he is building a name for himself as one to watch. Despite the clubs being closed, 2021 turned out to be a momentous year for Chimp, including winning a merit-based grant from Musicboard Berlin and performing a wild livestream for Beatport.

Here is the last EP from our shining stars : Purple Mood (A-link & yAs) and Dis-Louis !

This project was born almost a year and a half ago, during holidays in the south of France, gathering label members and close friends. During this journey, an ephemere studio has been built and our producers have taken control of it : this is where the track Sunrise Mill has been composed, in reference to the ancient mill where these awesome holidays took place.

As they considered that this track should be included in a more global project, Dis-Louis, yAs and A-Link decided to produce a solo track, back home, as a reminiscence of that chill week.

As you may have understood, this EP brings sunshine and good vibes, enjoy!

In turn, Deenia, Glo My, Kodemul, Umvral and Villaseñor were in charge of remixing the original tracks, giving it their own touch without losing the musical criteria of the original tracks, achieving an energetic, strong and sensory EP, perfect for the dance floor.
