Universo Positivo is back in 2025 with their next release from label family Orlando Voorn & Amsterdam Flutist, Han Litz.
Techno icon, Orlando Voorn, has long been a pillar of the Dutch scene forming an essential link with pioneers of the sound in its birthplace of Detroit. He made his mark across the decades hopping between diverse genres and has collaborated with legends like Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins, Blake Baxter and Amp Fiddler with his releases gracing labels like Rush Hour, R&S and Housewax.
On this New Year beauty, Voorn collaborates with Flute maestro, composer and arranger, Han Litz. Fluent in a wide range of styles and genres, performing with Jazzanova, Osunlade, Louie Vega, Patrick Forge and DJ Deep, Litz was one of the founders of spiritual jazz ensemble Kindred Spirits.
This EP opens with ‘What I Love (Original Mix)’ - a soulful fusion of house and jazzy swing beats with a laidback timeless vibe. The title cut also gets a ‘Soulfood Mix’ which maintains that languid feel while fattening out the beats and shining a light on Han Litz’s delectable flute flourishes and Orlando’s vox. On the flip we have some classic Orlando Voorn deep house vibrations in the form of ‘Composers’. Deep and driving, this tune will have crowds rocking well into the late-night hours. ‘Composers’ also get a ‘Downtempo’ refix which is equally as heavy.
This is toe tapping, head nodding business from Orlando Voorn, with the mesmerising jazzy funk flute from Han Litz who provides the cherry on top. Lovingly crafted to captivate and elevate the soul, whether you're a DJ, or a dancer, you will appreciate its deadly grooves, percussive layers, jazz energies, and Orlando’s luscious meditative loops. Add in the smooth vocals and gorgeous flute, and we have yet another unique release from the rising label.

Since making a splash on our Shades Of Summer compilation in 2023, we have invited @aka-cree for his first full original EP on the label comprising of two original tracks inspired by '90s Italian deep house alongside two remixes by Joe Morris. Altostratus captures the ethereal essence of the dream house genre, characterised by lush melodies and hypnotic rhythms. Joe Morris reimagines the tracks into slower, more laid-back versions, perfect for relaxed dance floors. Influenced by the soulful and atmospheric sounds of early Italian house sound, this release reflects a dedication to reviving and reinterpreting the genre for today's audience.

After over a decade of making music, we’re finally releasing our debut album A Deeper Life on May 9th 2025, on our very own imprint In Dust We Trust.

What started as an idea in 2020, during a period of stagnation for us and so many others, grew into something that felt within reach. Demos were refined, and Beans was producing more music than ever. Then, as our intense touring schedule resumed, we never anticipated we’d find the time to complete the project.

This album has been a labor of love—it’s more than just an album for us. It’s a love letter to our home country New Zealand; to our bond as brothers, to our family and friends that have supported us since the start; and to the laid-back way of life that shaped who we are today. But it’s also a journey through the global sounds that we’ve fallen in love with over the years.

Today we’re dropping the first single from the album, Love Language, featuring our fellow Kiwi and regular collaborator, the legendary Nathan Haines, on saxophone. We poured so much of ourselves into this track, and we hope you can feel that when you hear it.

This is an immensely proud moment for Beans and I. Never in our wildest dreams could we have imagined that when we relocated to London from Auckland in 2012, not only would we one day release an album, but that it would turn into a full-time career, giving us the chance to travel the world and meet incredible people along the way. We owe so much of this success to those who have continued to support us, and we hope this musical offering excites you as much as it does us.

Margot Lloyd has been impressing the label for a number of years now under her production moniker @moogle_puff, consistently delivering tracks that shimmer with both technical finesse and emotional depth, showing that she knows her way around the studio. Despite hailing from Australia, her music imbues a certain nostalgic glow for the golden age of European dance-music, particularly the sun-drenched, late-night euphoria of a certain White Isle. 

And so it continues with the After 8 EP, her first full release on Shades Of Sound following her standout contribution 'Subtropic Vision' on last summer's Various Artists compilation. The title track is an exercise in deep house elegance. Its warm chords, subtle melodies, and refined groove wouldn't feel out of place on a Larry Heard record, channeling the timeless sophistication of Mr. Fingers with a fresh, contemporary sheen.
