A lovely blend of all instruments! The base is nice and smooth 

Amadeus sees it’s catalog graced yet again by New Zealand outfit Chaos In The CBD. The kiwi brothers, birthed Ben & Louis Helliker-Hales, are no new faces to the label, or the wide variety of genre-bending acronyms they encompass. Having recently relocated from tropical Auckland to damp London earlier this year, the two take their productions along with them in their latest efforts, 816 To Nunhead.

Title track and aside, “816 To Nunhead,” is tinged with what’s left of summer. A nostalgic tune built for the sun and soaked in funk. It’s a track reminiscent of early french disco, almost as if built for the two robots themselves. Guitar plucks and hi hats flow seamlessly throughout the tune, aided by a glorifying vocal, “I would like to think of my music as just an extension, an extension of me of today or whatever.”

What emotion of freedom and escape evoked on the Aside can be contrasted on the flip, “78 To Stanley Bay,” a tune built behind the ever looming theme of loneliness. Accompanied by a live trumpet courtesy of Isaac Aesili, ’78 To Stanley Bay’ tells us a story, or rather a journey, built behind dirty hats and delayed keys. This is a track fashioned for everywhere but the club, and we absolutely love that.

As of late, France has been a hotbed for up-and-coming house and disco labels, releasing some of the grooviest tunes pumped out on dance floors across the globe. Newly minted @Groovencerecords is no exception to this, bringing forth their their first label release with a various artists compilation that will leave your head buzzing, heart melting and feet stomping. VA releases can be hit or miss but "The Cosmic Groove EP” lives up to its name with funky, spaced out cuts that will have you calling Houston and assuring them that there is no problem.

Based out of Paris, the vinyl-only label has been releasing an 'invite' series of hour long sets to showcase their tastes, with one of the guests being @Luvless who is featured in our premiere today.

With releases on top notch labels such as Heist Recordings and his own imprint Rose Records, the only non-Frenchman on this compilation continues to churn out top-notch releases. Light and spacey, the track highlights another high class single from Luvless. 'Heavy Button' takes you on a 6 minute and 14 second rocket ship journey to the moon and back, zooming above the stratosphere with synths that warble through space and a classy vocal loop that hits the heart but fits gently within the groove. Crisp hi-hats echo throughout the track, bouncing back and forth between the drum beat which has strong hip-hop undertones until it wields that familiar 4x4 kick. Melodic keys swing back and forth keeping you in orbit until the track gently winds down and brings you back into the atmosphere for a smooth and safe landing.

Luvless secures his name on another slice of wax due to a consistency that we’ve come to know and love. Groovence comes out with a strong first showing, adding to an ever-growing list of independent vinyl-only labels in a burgeoning French scene.

So...it's album time for Apparel Wax! After sharing an assortment of coded EP's (APLWAX001 so and on and so forth), father figure Giuseppe D'Alessandro thought it time to drop a full-length on us. As always, those who've provided their production prowess remain incognito, so whoever's chipped in, has done a damn fine job. As a whole, the long play is an ode to jazz, with each ghost writer interpreting the genre as they see fit. With Apparel Music set to turn 9 this month, LP001 is a perfect birthday gift.

For us, 'LP001B1' stood out from the crowd. Inspired by UK breakbeat, with a kick drum like a steam train, you'll be doing yourselves a disservice if you skip pass this ditty. In true Apparel style, there's a rush of key and string combos too, that should have jazz-house connoisseurs licking their lips.

You will have noticed as well that D'Alessandro's chosen a cheeky album art. The reason behind it, being to preach protection but of the musical kind. Apparel artists are free to experiment with their creations, finding protection behind the label. Apparel Wax are here to defend quality dance tunes, striving to spread love and unite people through having a good time. We certainly can't argue with that!
