Gost Zvuk (ГОСТ ЗВУК) prepares for a busy 2023 with an enthralling double LP’s worth of futurist sound design from Flaty. In the game for more than a decade now, the producer, mastering engineer and all-round visionary artist has delivered an impressive range of music across both his own ANWO imprint as well as Firecracker, West Mineral ltd., 12th Isle and more.

Always content to subvert expectations and blur stylistic lines, on Intuitive Word there is a clear fascination with a spectral, whittled-down-to-its-core type of avant-pop/R'N'B hybrid. Digital strings, dubbed beyond recognition semantic snatches, re-imagined new age style synthesis and even flourishes of MMORPG computer game soundtracks all combine into something that feels uniquely Flaty. In a sense, Intuitive Word marries ambient sound collage and hyperreal, narrative-style vocal processing. However, glimmers of shoegaze and old ‘ethereal’ bands (think Harold Budd & Cocteau Twins) crop up on tracks like ’Tree’ and ’Nepal Lit’, a testament to Flaty’s skill for world-building and atmospherics.

Across the 19 cuts there is a recurring theme of choral style, computer generated elegies. A kind of 'cristal trance’, in their words. ‘Mint’ combines these with overtly RNB style vocal samples, whereas darker, more broken beat soundscapes can be heard on the Madteo collab ‘Observer’. With plenty of sombre and cinematic style ventures such as ‘NEWS’ breaking up the album and eschewing this focus on vocals, we find one of the most consistent producers in the current Russian scene delivering what may well be his most accomplished collection yet.

The Udacha label might have been away for a while but is now back with a vengeance. First up for this return is a new long player by the mighty fine Kurvenschreiber quarter, which is made up of Sergey Komarov, Vlad Dobrovolski, Ilya Sadovski and Alexey Grachev. These sound artists have been excelling in their field for some 10 years now and use synths as well as found sound objects to create their work. Magnetic tape loops, various instruments, pre-recorded loops, shortwave radios, transformers and much more give rise to this unique record which mixes up Boolean jazz, kurventronika and post-rock.

Five years have flown by since the release of the first episode of the De Kat Memwa series. During this time, we hosted many incredible artists and became friends with some in real life, which I think is incredibly valuable. Over the years, the musical palette and editorial policy have changed significantly. However, the sincerity and enthusiasm that permeated our musical endeavours remained unchanged. That is why the mix from Mark Scenic hit me in the heart. This is a quivering 60-minute story woven from sounds and melodies permeated with great love! This music resonates incredibly with my emotional state right now, so I see a special symbolism in the fact that this is our anniversary mix.

bijū arose from the need to explore the intersection of machine and body, the need to blur the boundaries between dehumanized electronic sound and the natural environment. Its selection is a constant search between minimalist and dense, dynamic and slow, sharp and blurry sounds. Inspired by the vibration of synthesizers enriched by echoes emanating from the abyss, transforms the soundscape into a psychedelic spectacle.
As part of the Warsaw based Ukrainian collective SUMISH wants to strengthen interactions between people through synergies, exchange of vision and knowledge, building bridges between the migrant community and local society through the different creative disciplines. 
His latest LP "Land of Abundance" was released on Berlin based Sons of Traders Records. Curator of “Healing Machine” radio show on Mutant Radio, dedicated to slow-rolling experimental music.
