Ancut -  Timeless Series #39

Our twelfth episode comes from none other than Marco Pellegrino aka Ancut. Marco runs the Discarded Gems label, but his connection with OTG stems from his incredibly dedicated work as the founder of Analogcut Mastering Studio, where he works as the main mastering engineer and lacquer cutter.  Needless to say, he is one of the central figures in our operation, a trusted friend who always keeps a low profile but delivers quality in his craft and music, both as a DJ and as a producer. This set was recorded live at the last Superluminal vs Discarded Gems event in Berlin.

Italian artist Marco Pellegrino has grown to become a quite indispensable part of our community. Performing under the alias Ancut, he has carved out an enviable space for himself by way of his own Discarded Gems imprint and resulting DJ booking schedule. Based in Berlin, Marco is also in constant demand for mastering skills too and Analogcut is a very well known name in the underground and his name adorns many of our scenes’ vinyl artworks.

As you might expect from an artist of Ancut’s calibre and proven track record as a producer and mastering engineer, his recording for our InSession series is immaculately programmed. From the dreamlike intro that gradually melts away to reveal hypnotic thread that runs through much of the mix. Crispy percussion and a multi dimensional sound palette that feeds into the stream from a multitude of angles produces an intense and otherworldly experience. Soon getting up to speed Ancut shows why he is as revered as a DJ as he is an artist.

As a DJ, he has been building a stellar collection for 15 years. His sound is completed by his own productions he records with computer-free hardware sessions. His love for analog has built the road for his own imprint Discarded Gems, and he himself is a regular guest across Europe’s underground scene and Berlin’s Superluminal parties.
