On The Arboretum, Analogue Attic co-founder Alex Albrecht leans further into the dancefloor, channelling the more hypnotic and driving energy that Butter Sessions is known for. Across the five tracks, listeners are treated to Albrecht's signature melody-driven deep house, bolstered by intricate rhythms, a deeper low end, and hypnotic loops designed for larger systems and later hours.

The tracks are playful yet serious, functional yet full of personality. There’s the joy of long blends and the tiny details that bubble up in the mix: field recordings from time spent away, nostalgic archival material, and subtle harmonic shifts that keep the tension simmering.

It’s a record built for dancers, but also for home listening. By embracing a tougher, more energetic sound, this release expands Albrecht's sonic world while staying true to the textural depth and sense of journey that run through all his work.

We’re taken off-planet, and while endlessly transportive, it’s also strapping and triumphant. The radiant stabs and funked-out luminescence might evoke solar flares and the vastness of space, but we go broad, boisterous and in-yer-face straight outta the gate. Known for doing the groove-forward thing like the best of them, this is quintessential Subb-an.

Plush and opulent, horizons will be expanded and synapses fired. More than anything else, it recalls the exquisite, sophisticated output of Japanese donny Soichi Terada or golden era Italian dream house at its most direct. A far-cry from the raw, stripped-down intensity of that classic “Birmingham sound” popularised by Surgeon and Regis. 

Chest out, big on the dramatics and he’s comin’ in hottt with that rousing forward momentum. Club-ready gear with plenty of earworm potential. Sublime.

Everything Made Sense (Briefly)

DJ sets are contextual - and I loved this one

A comfy sofa placed on the elevated platform behind the iconic Wintergarten booth, with sound diffused throughout the entire club/dancefloors during Art Weekend - when Sisyphos turns into a large-scale art exhibition.

Playing records I’ve been listening to for years - usually kept for my living room - and seeing people fully vibe to them. Such a good feeling.

A cross-genre journey with one red thread: keeping it groovy, personal yet accessible - Wintergarten style - and bringing the whole club into a shared vibe.
What started as a listening session slowly turned into a party, ending with a full dancefloor.

First time opening and closing the day with a single DJ set - a great exercise in building a complete musical story.

Thanks to everyone for the smiles and dance moves.
