Resurfacing with their anticipated second iteration in a few months time, newly-launched Amsterdam platform One Eye Witness turns in a versatile second VA featuring the many flavoured likes of Robert Dietz, Z@p, Kasper Marott and New Members. Showcasing the label’s tireless search for new horizons and intrinsic lack of musical ideology, this new EP highlights talents whose shared ambition is to write the future of club music.

Berlin’s Robert Dietz serves up the first salvo, “EMQU EMJAY”, a lush and bouncy electro jam doing the splits between UK step, seaswept house and post-Rephlexian, Eastern-infused electronica. Reaching for much darker places, Z@p’s “YFM” pulls out an enslaving Knight Rider kind of nocturnal vibe, full with a powerhouse bass and mesmeric swing to keep dancers on their toes from start to finish. Gutsy, psy-op-ready material for when the lights shut off for good and club pressure raises up to suffocating levels.

Danish producer Kasper Marott is next with the swirling “Bleep”, cutting a path of doped-up, funky exhilaration across the dance floor. Drawing in a raging pool of acid and 8-bit tropes, Marott boasts unmatched skills when it comes to harnessing hella hectic solar-powered grooves. Pear affiliate New Members punches in last with “The Dink” - a hybrid dub slab joining the dots betwixt liquid jungle, fun-loving house and more out-there acid, reminiscent of Wink’s most hair-raising momentums but with a further breaks-luvin’ twist to it.

The Spinning Plates imprint returns this October with Club Winston’s ‘Guzzle’ EP, comprised of four gritty club workouts from the London artist.

The UK’s Club Winston has been steadily unveiling a series of tripped-out club ready cuts via his own UKGEORGE label over the past few years along with remixes from the likes of D.Tiffany and Tim Reaper. Here though we see him join the roster of Spinning Plates with his latest collection of works, an imprint that’s played host to material from the likes of SHKN, Neksha, Andy Rantzen, DJ Spider and Bruno Schmidt since its inception in 2015.

Title-track ‘Guzzle’ leads, laid out across five minutes with a menacing arpeggio bass lead, howling atmospherics and crunchy analogue drums. ‘Hell’ follows and tips the focus over to heavy doses of sub bass, intricately dynamic, modulating drums and intense swells of processed synths throughout.

Opening the flip-side is ‘Chart’, upping the energy levels with a pacey 4/4 drum groove while twitchy resonant synth lines, low-end pulsations and cavernous reverberations ebb and flow throughout. ‘Partook’ then rounds out the release, a cinematic ambient composition which lays focus on swirling, textural pads, glitched out resonant bleeps and fluttering low end hits.

Danny Wolfers is one of electronic music’s inevitable forces. He has put out an elaborate body of work that merges Chicago and Detroit jams, afro funk and RPG and arthouse cinema OST's - co-shaping the The Hague sound in the process. Fueled by a non-stop work ethic, he has released through a multitude of aliases, of which "Legowelt" is presumably his best known and most steadily used one.

On “Inner Voices of a Clown” Wolfers revives his Polarius moniker after a near 20 year hiatus with five raw and rugged, lo-fi electro tracks. The Commodore Amiga 1200, a staple in the artist’s studio since his beginnings in the nineties, forms the center piece of gear, rendering the EP a distilled and hermetic endeavor. As the tape permeated drums unequivocally throb forward, the acid gets grittier and sweatier, driving the bare bone leads to the verge of derailment. Wolfers, perceived to often prefer melody over rhythm, this time resolutely opts for the pulse and pattern - letting the cuts run freely, modulating them on the fly, guided by intuition. Justifiably the artist note that came along with the premasters read: “made with as little brain effort as possible”.

The EP is a return in style for one of Wolfers’ most lauded yet obscure projects - an indispensable selection of club tools, ready to do the job on any dance floor, be it in the big room or the sparsely lit bunker.

Sun Genam/Grosheid on the A1 slot, we take-off with no foreseen landing. A spiraling techno workout that keeps evolving into something bigger, held up by a hypnotic rhythm to ensure that the chance of your mind melting into a puddle is at an all time high.

Providing a dancefloor-forward reintepretation of 29CU.SPIRAL, Young Adults kick things up a notch in their own groove-laden style—keeping things functional, while still having heaps of emotional strength and deepness that keeps on giving.

Last but not least, the flipside is the doing of Beschadigde Zielen Date, a stimulant-fueled jam, recorded in the small hours of the night, after a festival outing that needed just that one extra push. Long lost recording in the early days of 2010s, from our minds to yours, truly.

Placid aka Paul Wise is the chief in command at ‘We’re Going Deep’ – an online community and record label, born out of a lifelong affair with the many shades of electronic rhythm and obsession for collecting records since 1988.

Known to many in underground House and Techno circles, he’s spent the last 3 decades moving heads and feet at select venues, parties and fields across the UK and beyond. On a mission to share and release new music via his imprint: you’ll find only the best in Acid, Electro, IDM, Techno and Deep House for the dance floor, front room or even just your headphones. 

For the latest solo series edition, Paul reaches out to the talents of UK based songwriter and producer James Shinra, for a heavyweight 4 track EP of 303 fuelled excursions.  Hitting the floor head on with the muscular tones of “Jaunt” on A1 – punchy 808 percussion builds with jarring rave-etched synthesis, before rushing into the roar of a 303 grabs you by the scruff of the neck and unleashes a rolling groove that jacks hard until the twisted end. Do not be fooled by the calmer overtures of A2 “Venture”, Shinra unleashes another rolling 4 to the 4 floor workout. Balancing airy leads and shifting pads to precision programmed beats, the TB saws its way through to maximum frequency exposure over the course to brazen effect.

On the B-Side, B1 “WASP” takes control via deeper bass tones, squelching tweaks and A-A-Acid vocal chants, all paced at a solid mid-tempo groove that really brings things to the boil: just when you need it. Signing off with the stunning IDM inflected melodies of “Flexion” on B2 – Shinra shows his mastery of space and warmth with this beautifully balanced slice of Electronica that really is the icing on the cake.

Like a huddle of stony-faced penguins, the slew of suited men and women made their way into the room, settling into their seats as the indistinct chatter slowly fell to silence. What came out of this meeting would decide the fate of many people; people that these largely heatless bunch knew little about, or cared little for. It was a tale as old as time, one that everybody knew like the back of their hand - they were all waiting for a new chapter to be written...

For their first outing of the year, London duo Kassian welcome Hypercolour co-founder and STEDITS boss Ste Roberts to the Faux Poly family. Known for his deep, rhythmic productions on his plethora of labels, and more recently as Adam & Steve alongside pal and Trouble Maker main man Adam Curtain, Ste now takes a more introspective direction on this new outing, in part down to the circumstances it was created in. Made in his brand new studio after his daughter Eliza was born - which is also the name of this new EP - the intricate techno and electro tracks mark a period where he was making each moment count when it came to his creative workflow.
