Over the past five years, Lorenzo Dada has become synonymous with the sound of Culprit. Not a year has gone by since 2016 without a significant contribution from the Rome-based artist. “On The Same Boat” is Lorenzo’s sixth release (5 EPs + 1 LP) on the Los Angeles imprint. His pure musical talent and his versatility as a producer shine through yet again.

More than ever, Lorenzo refuses to stick to well-trodden genre paths. The new collection sees him travelling through melodic deep house, moody electronica and percolating 2-step. All are awash in gorgeous textures, harmonic flourishes and effortless riffs that have become the artist’s trademark. “On The Same Boat” points to a very bright future for Lorenzo and the label he has come to epitomize.

Silky smooth house vibes from Retromigration as you would imagine. Intricate synth & sax riffs combine with perfectly timed vocal snippets to give a lush A side that wouldn’t feel out of place on KDJ.
The Earl Jeffers remix adds a bit more beef to the situation, bringing chunky Omar S style kicks for a dubbed out chunkier rework of the original.
‘Stop the Presses’ is an anthem! Ridiculous vocal work and smooth as you like shuffled beats provide the perfect setting for an absolute summer slayer.
‘You & Dion’ jacks the tempo up a notch and uses arpeggiated bass-lines and classic Retromigration wind instrument sounds to amazing effect.

British artists Nick Woolfson and Filippo Rocco are Metropolitan Soul Museum, a duo that’s been releasing music with a partly deeper touch as well as broken and heavily hitting basslines, sometimes more atmospheric, more experimental and more ambient-like to then strike with a club-oriented take knocking people off their dancing shoes. For the latest mini-LP, Smooth Machine Control. Filippo and Nick have gathered six tracks of the artists’ current musical being picking up on the before mentioned to come up with a versatile yet coherent release. The mini-LP kicks off with Sumar’s Table, or in Metropolitan Soul Museum’s style, with a broken bassline that one would assume to be found in genres like Bass but in this case can be rather ascribed to Minimal taking a deeper twist. The latter is evoked by the deep synth-line. However, Sumar’s Table captivates listeners due to the implementation of bleeps and beeps, little freaky futuristic sounds that twirl and curl in the track's arrangement and turn the track into a voyage through electronic music’s more experimental side.
