Jamie Jones’ Hottrax readies their brand-new Various Artists EP series 'Tripleution', set to feature long-time Hottrax affiliates and brand new artists alike, adding to a discography that already boasts the likes of Patrick Topping, East End Dubs, Yousef, and many more alongside Jamie Jones himself. Landing this September, the first part of ‘Tripleution’ features Qubiko & Denis Ago, TacoMan and Sound Process, giving an essential look into the label’s high-quality catalogue.

Italian duo Qubiko & Denis Ago deliver a mixture of house and minimal styles for their cut 'Danzer', with deep layers of sub-bass penetrating its percussive hooks. 'Arriba Abajo' sees TacoMan, a previous Hottrax visitor, build this futuristic track around revving synth levels and patches of grooving beats. Lastly, Sound Process comes with 'Dizzy Nights', pushing through distorted, dreamlike vocals which merge with an unrelenting, weighty bassline, leaving the EP with a continuing impact.

After a 7-year hiatus, Mauritian techno producer Mutecell is back in action with his first full-length LP, ONAC!D. Releasing on his brainchild, Mutewax, the album fuses Mutecell’s trademark style, greatly inspired by Berlin, with nostalgic memories related to the Mauritian club scene.Although Mutecell’s soundscapes are usually driven by a mixture of analog sounds and repetitive robotic rhythms in the golden 130-140BPM range, he does not limit himself to 4/4 peak time bangers and showcases his range through tracks like the slow-burn breakbeat track “Gris Gris”, the rhythmically syncopated “Orion’s Fear” as well as dub-sounding harmonics on the closer, “Kas Poz”. Rest assured as the album is still filled from front to back with what Mutecell does best: dark hypnotic slappers.

Mutecell reminisces his path through the Mauritian scene by naming the songs after emblems of the local culture such as names of iconic nightclubs
and venues. This represents the crux of the album: the symbiosis of Berlin techno and Mauritian club culture is the identity of this producer.

entaSkai undertook a period of research into the underlying structure and organisation of the human brain before writing ‘The Architecture Of The Mind’. The Berlin-based artist then took what had been learned and kept it in mind when writing the music that marks Mask's first album release. It comes with extensive background notes on each track, and an operational manual of sorts - notes from the artists as to the effects each piece will have on those who hear them.

"The message conveyed by this album is that life itself is filled with music, but our egos often prevent us from being in harmony with this symphony. Inner chaos and silence can be challenging to bear, leading us to seek solace in external noise. We have constructed a barrier between our inner and outer worlds, causing us to lose touch with the rhythm of harmony. However, by embracing the illusion of separation and dancing to good music, we can rediscover harmony with ourselves and our environment. To fully experience the essence of the album, it should be played loudly on a proper sound system or high-quality headphones. The gorgeous 'Mind Mapping' opens up with deep and dubby drums and lush harmonies that soothe you to your core, '030' then has more raw, heavy drums with many layers of glowing synths, glassy melodies and organic found sounds. 'Fügung' keeps the deep and introspective moods coming before the crisp tech of 'Flow Dreaming' ups the ante with more drive and layers of vocal whispers, hi-hats and smeared dub chords. Elsewhere the likes of 'Quiet Reflection' lean into the groove with swirling pads and one-word vocal sounds drifting through the air over propulsive drum loops, and 'Boiling Range' suspends you in deft synth loops amongst the stars over a prickly house beat.

The superb synth craft and well-designed grooves continue through the dusty deep house of 'Karl-Marx-Allee' and minimal dub of 'Dynamic System' before the elegant melodic techno of 'Apeiron' and dreamy synthscapes of 'Parallel 30' close the album in a reflective fashion.

This is a deeply evocative album with a fully realised concept that is as thought-provoking as it is immersive.

London’s rising star Scarlett O’Malley joins the roster of Kerri Chandler’s Kaoz Theory this November with ‘The House Joints’ EP. 

West London born and raised Scarlett has become a highly praised purveyor of soul-infused sounds in recent years through her contributions to the music industry as a DJ, radio presenter on the likes of Rinse, NTS, Balamii and the BBC, podcaster, journalist and voiceover artist. 

Here though, we see O’Malley’s production career come into focus as she joins the roster of the prestigious Kerri Chandler’s helmed Kaoz Theory imprint.

With Adam’s solo productions usually focusing on bass heavy, disorienting club music, this release shows their production craft evolve seamlessly to a new sound sphere. In keeping with the intentions of the release, early 2000’s dubstep originator and a pioneer of the FWD era, Distance, provides a mammoth remix version.
