Everything was pitch black, she couldn't see the wood for the trees. Darkness engulfed the space, all other senses became heightened; a bitter taste swirled around her mouth and the air around her become thick and heavy. If she squinted hard enough maybe she could make out the shapes in the room but for now touch was her best friend; arms outstretched, she felt her way around the space, hoping a door handle or light switch would reveal itself. It could take her an eternity to find the exit but hopefully her senses wouldn't fail her. 

For their fifth release, Berlin label Other Goodness call on the talents of Andrew Meecham and Sean Johnston, better known as Emperor Machine and Hardway Bros, respectively. For the first time the pair collaborate under the guise of Unknown Genre, a fitting name for the melting pot of electronic influences on this debut EP, Elevator Ride. Made up of two originals, and backed up by a remix from Heavenly Recordings’ signees The Orielles, the release moves from the revving acid and driving rhythms of the title track through to the shamanistic grooves and hypnotic percussion of our pick 'Cthulhu Macula'.

DJ duo Studio Batsumi (aka Federico Bigonzetti & Marta Paccagnella) reveal details for the first release of their self-titled joint label venture with five-track EP Cosmicomics. The first musical outing from the pair’s new imprint, Studio Batsumi are set to release their original records via the label, as well as offering a platform for burgeoning artists to release their music. With a focus on analogue, for the first few months all releases will be vinyl only (exclusively via Bandcamp). Making the natural step up from selectors and musicians to bona fide label bosses, founding the label marks a new beginning for the pair.

Known for their genre-defying DJ sets, regularly appearing at London’s most reputable listening bars such as Spiritland, Brilliant Corners and Supermax, as well as club previous shows at The Ton of Brix, The Jago, Cafe 1001 and The Waiting Room, the Studio Batsumi imprint plans to follow suit, genre-fluid while sonically defined, much like the pair’s DJ offering.

With the launch EP Cosmicomics written and produced by Federico alongside Parisian guitarist, producer and sound engineer Maxime Obadia, the varying musical backgrounds of the two artists demonstrates this versatile aesthetic for the label expertly, with Fede rooted in electronic and Maxime’s rock background working in harmony on the EP. Combining live instruments with drum machines, synths and a host of genre influences. Artists such as such The Pilotwings, GHF, Kalbata, YuSu, and L’Éclair have been cited as influences on the first EP.

Featuring three original tracks, a remix from esteemed Turkish DJ and producer Jonny Rock and one of Federico’s own versions on B2, the tracks range from bassline-driven downtempo chuggers, dreamy guitar riffs, trippy arpeggios and distorted, wonky pads for a rich and eclectic sound palette to work on and off the dancefloor. Texturised layers of live instrumentation and analogue equipment further enhance the organic and unique quality of Studio Batsumi sound.

With an artist-first approach, Studio Batsumi releases will be on a limited 300-press run, sold exclusively via Bandcamp. To celebrate the launch of the label, on Saturday 13 April the duo will host an in store at Hidden Sounds in Dalston, with the party carrying on at Brilliant Corners where the pair will play a special all-night-long set.

@bliss-point-sound is proud to present the long awaited reissue of lost italo house gem Soft Keys – Bubbles, with this remix from Tokyo based producer boys be kko, which explores the soaring melodic euphoria and complexity of the original.

Bliss Point’s reissue of this classic includes two remixes from contemporary luminaries boys be kko and Olive T, each interpreting the timeless sound of Bubbles for the 21st century.  The original “Acapella” version is also included.

This reimagining of Soft Keys – Bubbles is remastered and recut by Dubplates & Mastering, and features an homage to the original 12” sleeve designed by Brandon Oxendine.

For our final release of this sizzling (European) summer we are very pleased to welcome Portuguese duo Ramboiage X C4STRO. 

Both long standing Djs and muso’s from the Lisbon scene, Vitor Ramboiage was Artistic Director at Brunch Electronik Festival and a long time resident at one of the city’s most famous clubs Lux Fragil, amongst many others. Whilst Antonio Castro applies his dj trade in the more underground House scene of Lisbon and is co founder of Oasis Records.

A common love of music has drawn these two artists together and their combined musical influences can be heard throughout this delightful EP. 

Kicking it off with two peak time bass heavy dance floor cuts, these tracks have already been tearing it up on Lisbon dance floors over the last few months. 

We're also happy to have enlisted some of our favourite producers to add their touches with label fav Gus Paterson delivering two fantastic euphoric end of night versions of ‘Do It Like That’ and MFSP’s very own Pete Herbert bringing some of his quality Cosmic Discoid House flavours to “Need You’

Vibrations and frequencies of Chicago, Detroit and West London permeate “IF IT AINT DEEP,” the new 6 track mini-LP from Ric Miranda. The tracks, created in the first two weeks of 2024, make for deep, late-night listening. They range in style, touching on Detroit Techno, Broken Beat, and Deep House - all musical movements that have influenced Ric’s musical journey. The title came about because of the rigidity of the sub genre category that Ric’s records are always placed in at record stores.
“IF IT AINT DEEP” is the 18th vinyl release on Noble Square Recordings.
“No Desires” features Roland drum sounds against a wash of synth chords and a rubbery lead and was created as a musical work out.
“Lost Skills” was also created as an exercise of sonic frustration and features a hollow arpeggiated lead over dirty chords and a low slung bassline. “If It Aint Deep” takes things a bit deeper with a feeling of late night scenes of passing lights and nostalgic memories of the future. “Day 2 Forget” is a more funky style that contains vibrations of both Chicago and Detroit. “Josette” is another fusion composition with layers of Latin rhythms, epic strings and atmospheric sounds.
“Vibe Conduit” completes the “IF IT AINT DEEP” mini LP with broken beats, crashes, splashes and a deep dub bass.
