Eevo Lute originator Wladimir M. shares another chapter of his precious techno poetry.

"When I was nine years old, I heard 'Funkytown' on the radio of the pool attendant over and over again. I still go to that pool. In the mid-eighties, everyone at my high school knew 'Don't Go'. And I turned sixteen, or seventeen. And was blown away by the bass line of 'Los Ninos Del Parque'. I heard it for the first time in the dark, one of the first times in that discotheque. The bass line was so atypical that I kept losing it, there in that stuffy classroom where a teacher was telling us about 'economics'. And where Peter, who was sitting next to me, was talking about 'Computer World'. And further away there was Chicago House, little did we know. I was born for it."

Pure Space presents Cell, the latest EP from Eora (Sydney)-based artist Pannotia - a producer sculpting intricate sonic ecosystems through dense, evolving synthesis. Inspired by microbiological processes, Cell pulses with organic mutation, where rhythm and texture shift like an evolving biocrust.

Written between Gadigal Land (Petersham) and London (2023–2025), the EP reflects a deep fascination with unseen worlds - microbial communities thriving in extreme conditions, reacting to their environments in ways both alien and familiar.

Across four tracks, Pannotia explores a spectrum of tempos and moods, from the swampy and viscous to the clinical and mechanical. The EP opens with the title track "Cell", a dense and hypnotic techno cut whose constantly evolving nature keeps you locked in. "Life Cycle" follows, a track driven by grinding lead synths and steady percussion that propels forward with restless motion. "Biozone" takes a more organic approach, mirroring ecological systems in constant flux.

Closing out the EP, "Tessellate" emerges as a doof-ready anthem, featuring the voice of Cyano in her musical debut - delivering a spoken exploration of microscopic landscapes. For good measure, a Dub Mix strips things back while maintaining the energy.

A contemporary snapshot of Pannotia’s sonic evolution, Cell is a dark, trippy, and ever-shifting ecosystem; alive with movement, modulation, and mutation.
