Tel Aviv's Takiru joins the Stripped Down label for a new release that comes with a remix from Jepe.


Whether making indie dance, house or melodic electronic, Takiru brings his classical piano and guitar skills to his work. His enchanting atmospheres and unique melodies come on labels like Camel Rides and Asymmetric Records and with Mosko and Dor Reuveni he runs the 2030 Music label. Previous tunes have had support from big names like Solomun and Ame and now he comes through with two more gems.

Opener 'Much To Love' is a bold and dynamic house cut with elastic bass and slinky drum work. The steamy vocals make for an intimate feel while cosmic sequences and loose percussion all enrich this vibrant groove. Berlin-based, Portuguese-born Jepe has been a scene mainstay for the last 20-plus years with credits on labels like Diynamic, Aeon & Moodmusic. His remix is a punchy affair with crisp tech drums and heavily textured synths that bring a late-night edge to the dance floor.

The second original 'We Want' is a more atmospheric cut, with lush breakdowns and crystalline synth textures. The sustained chords soothe the soul and the deep and rubbery drums carry you away on a celestial vibe.

These are widescreen and emotive tracks from the always refreshing Stripped Down label.

PREMIERE: Morgi — Masuda (GERSH Remix) [Maneki Neko]

2023 carries on the vibrant energy of 2022 for TAU, as we unleash the first release of the year with Like A Dream by Israeli artist Genish. Hail- ing from Tel Aviv, Genish embodies that funky Middle Eastern spirit, combining a global outlook with local influences to create a spellbinding sound. His music has been signed to labels such as Multi Culti and Blue Shadow among others and his exemplary skills are showcased on this two-track release, full of freshness.

We encounter the title track first of all, with dense drum programming and distinct percussion setting the rhythm off nicely. The atmosphere builds until Genish introduces a galloping bassline together with a chopped up vocal. Middle Eastern flavours seep in, complementing the vocals perfectly. As the tempo increases, the vocal plays out in its entirety taking us into the breakdown... A mesmerising second half demonstrates Genish’s deft touch and inherent ability to craft highly effective tracks that connect mind, body and spirit in a wonderfully unified dance.

On the flip, it’s ‘Drum Spell’. As the title suggests, this one has some sprightly slaps thanks to the punchy drum work. A nasty menacing b-line comes into play and gives us all a reason to wear a grimace on our faces. Hushed vocals add a haunting element, while the percussion is again, on point. An entrancing melody cascades over the low end, juxtaposed with the moody frequencies. Hold onto your hats for the breakdown, which leads into a thoroughly eerie second half with the whispered vocals, bassline and melody combining to create a spellbinding symphony of chilling vibes.

In recent years, Guy Shaked a.k.a Takiru has gained lots of respect as one of the finest representatives of the Tel Aviv Sound. His productions are a magistral combination of Indie Dance bangers with acidic & darkish sounds, perfectly suited to the dance-floor. Drawing influences from New Wave and Acid Techno, Takiru manages to navigate through different genres, taking the listener to a psychedelic adventure wrapped with addictive melodies.
The EP features 6 tracks; 3 originals and 3 remixes; Takiru's originals captivate the listener's mind into a meditative state while their body sails consistently to undiscovered & mysterious lands.
On remix duty, we have Nayan Soukie a.k.a Amount which making his debut on our imprint with a fresh windy interpretation of 'Stranger Things.
