A collective of musicians devoted to walking the blurred lines that divide disco, funk, boogie and house, Kokoro Disco San first appeared on the Razor-N-Tape radar with their 2019 ‘Isla Fantasia’ release on Rocafort Records.

KDS now brings their uncanny ability to capture the mood and instrumentation of classic disco and soul with the uplifting summer anthem ‘Sunshine’ and the Candido-esque sonic journey ‘Jungle Deep’. Rounding out the EP are two remixes of the title track by label co-head JKriv, who delivers an extended acidic exploration with his ‘Beach Burn Mix’, and a bumped up yet loving treatment of the original song with his ‘SPF76 Mix’.

Partyfine returns with its next package of shimmering gems hot on the heels of the ‘Clean Drive Edits EP’. Carefully curated by main man Yuksek, the Reims based party label delivers a multi-track compilation of all original beats and beauties from a wide array of talent! Normally known for its ‘more or less disco’ brief, Partyfine takes a deeper, darker, and more exotic approach on this sixth chapter in their comp series.

On Partyfine Volume VI, there are artists who have been there right from the start like Getaroom, who delivers a deliciously dark disco anthem that features CAR. Label head Yuksek drops two original afro-infused disco bangers on the comp, while Claap! gets ecstatic with a cut designed for those quiet but enigmatic early hours.

Rubin Steiner turns the rhythm and the bass down deep and slow, while Polocorp (Polo & Pan) trucks on with the tripped-out exotica he is known for. Partyfine also welcomes some new artists to the fold like Patchworks (Voilaaa’s producer and member) with a track this is nothing but a pure house babe, and not unlike the vibe we are left with on Destino’s cut.

Frank Agrario’s touch is low-fi and percussive, Plaisir de Frances offers up a hi-energy club belter with vocoder in full effect, while Birdee’s delivery is probably the peak of the comp with its up-tempo shiny disco drop. Other new acts include Alex Blex, and the elusive African artist Francis de Francois. There’s a further new project called Ubaruh by Phillipi of Fatnotronic, with Villa closing out this collection on an uplifting vitamin jab of a vibe.

When the sun goes down, the dancers start to float, and the nights goes all trippy, this could well be the comp of your summer sundown. This party is fine!

As they did on their last release, Hell Yeah once again look to offer new takes on some of their excellent recent album projects here. This new EP finds four producers tackling tracks from Tempelhof’s blissful and beautiful, ambient and slo-mo work alongside Gigi Masin, namely 2014’s Hoshi. Those producers are Ptaki, Balearic Gabba Sound System as well as label regular Luminodisco and the legendary Reverso 68.

First up is fast rising The Very Polish Cut-Outs artist Ptaki, who with his remix offers up a seductive and sombre number with lazy chords, gently swaying drums and a subtle balearic feel. Dreamy vocals complete the picture, but buy the EP digitally and you will also get a bonus instrumental.

Then comes the label’s in house and off kilter production team, Balearic Gabba Sound System, who flip ‘Buena Onda’ into a deep cut bit of sunset disco with glowing arps, elastic drums and sweeping string sounds in typically stylish fashion.

It’s all very romantic and sun kissed and that continues with Reverso 68 aka long time balearic stars Pete Herbert and Phil Mison.
Their take on Red Venus is one that slowly builds in stature, with plenty of lush pads, cute stabs and percolating drums that really lift you up.

Lastly, Hell Yeah regular Luminodisco gets a little more broken up and experimental with his dishevelled but soulful sounding version of My Velvet Book It’s slouchy like a hip hop record, but over all, like a modern take on Don Carlos.

After 'Sentimental' his latest release on Nomada Records the exploration of harmonic dubs and the influence of disco has always been present on Nico's work. He comes now with a release in which repetition comes present in every song in which the song developed throughout without being obvious. Congas, shakers and a common vibrating rhodes fills up the EP named 'Dub Shaker'.

Steam its first track introduces the mood that will be present on the whole EP, making it a soft club song with an on going baseline, finishing with sweet vocals and pulsating horns. Follow up by “Can’t do my thing” a dub track with an on going guitar riff which develops frenzy in the club. And last but not least of the original tracks comes “Reflect' a definitely club track which translates in a fluctuating bass companied by sweet soul vocals and a romanticised rhodes piano. The EP includes an stunning remix by one of Nico's favourites Dicky Trisco, who never disappoints when it comes to baselines & disco. Enjoy Nico Saav's Steam EP.

Él viene ahora con un lanzamiento en el cual la repetición viene presente en cada canción en la cual se desarrolla a través sin ser obvia. Hell Yeah welcomes the red hot pairing of Tuccillo and Willie Graff for a new four track EP that includes 'Gliding', as heard on the recent Buena Onda compilation. This is a serious serving for real DJs only.

Willie Graff & Tuccillo have been cooking up their delicious deep house dishes for more than a decade now on labels like Finale Sessions, Freerange and Circus Company. Tuccillo is also behind the Balearic Gabba classic 'Solo un Delay', and Graff - a born and bred White Isle native, who is also a long time cohort of Kenneth Bager`s Music For Dreams - is the youngest person to ever have a residency at the legendary Pacha nightclub. They have a rich sound palette that gets all horizontal and Mediterranean across these four fresh new tracks.

Day Side opener 'Crystal Ball' has a nimble bassline and bouncing kicks that get you on your toes while the lush synths do a playful dance up top. The excellent 'Gliding' track from the Buena Onda compilation is a super go slow anthem with scuffed up claps and lazy kicks that take you on a real trip far out to sea.

Flip on the Night Side and 'The Moment' picks up the pace, exploring late night deep house with a melodic air, distant whistles and subtle acid sounds that make for a tropical beach rave. Last of all, 'Tic Tac' is six minutes of dreamy rhythmic bliss, with delicate drums and new age ambiance washing over you like a cooling Azure breeze.

These are classy DJ weapons for those who know.

Willie Graff & Tuccillo - Crystal Ball

Despite having been one of the most devastating years in the history of electronic music culture, 2020 has also brought about some creative momentum for music producers worldwide. In the case of Space Echo (@spaceecho), it presented an opportunity to complete their third EP for Luv Shack Records (@luvshackrecords). 

The energy fuelled "Cha-Ha" is a title track that boasts with all the elements weíve come to expect from a Space Echo joint; uplifting live drums blended with a classic 4-to-the-floor beat, a funky syncopated bassline, motivational vocal chops and lots of grainy delay. This time however, the main theme is played by a live saxophone that seamlessly fits the formula by switching between rhythmic and melodic phrases throughout the track.
