Unexpected Items, fire off their first show of the year. In the first hour, Cat Curl, previously seen on mixes for I Love Acid and for WGD Maestro Placid, lets us in on her vast vinyl collection of acid, Detroit techno and fresh prog.

In the 2nd hour, Manchester based DJ/producer Kalani taps into the deeper side of his collection, containing a healthy selection of breakbeats, house, a touch of ambient and a few more dance-floor oriented tracks thrown in for good measure. Alongside producing and djing, he is a resident and co-runner of the Manchester collective LIGHTSPEED who have been making a name for themselves over the last two years by hosting epic parties around the city

Fervent defender of raw and authentic House Music, Harrington brings influences straight from Chicago and New York all emblematic places of Electronic music.

Now turned towards production, it is with the same energy that he offers us a full groovy and authentic music that oscillates between House, Italo and Deep House.

Rhode & Brown is the DJ and producer duo based in Munich, consisting of Friedrich Trede and Stephan Michael Braun. They each discovered a love for house music at a young age before joining forces in 2010. Since then, their collaborative efforts have established them as reputable figures in the electronic music scene.

Their releases can be found on well-known labels such as Toy Tonics, Permanent Vacation, Public Possession, Shall Not Fade, and Let’s Play House.

They're also the founders of Slam City Jams, a record company known for releasing high-quality music that incorporates various influences within the electronic spectrum.

In addition to their production work, they host a monthly show on Radio 80000, strengthening their presence in the global electronic music community.

Having shared their vibes worldwide, their DJ sets reflect a love for various music genres, transcending the boundaries of house and techno.

Roberto Mantovan is a physicist, runner, and music enthusiast. Under the pseudonym Robidat, he performs as a dj since 1991, date of purchase of his first vinyl (FUSE, plus8 #013). Since then, he never abandoned the turntables, djing in Italy and Europe with some good friends like Adriano Canzian, Wolfgang Flür (ex Kraftwerk), Daniel Meteo, …. Djsets from Robidat are ONLY VINYL, with a powerful mix of percussive techno, house, and oldschool acid sounds, without forgetting the most exciting novelties from the electronic music scene. Robidat establishes 51Beats “an electronic experience” in 2008, an independent label based in Milan, which is devoted to discover new talents in the electronic music scene. Ralph Lawson should need no introduction as it would be impossible to list all that he has achieved in such a short space but here's a whistle stop tour anyway. 

Having cut his teeth as resident DJ at back to basics, even playing the first record in the club, before going onto become musical director and help the club to win multiple awards. Ralph has gone on to perform across the globe in countless famous venues too long to list but including The Hacienda, Sub Club, fabric, The Loft Barcelona, Space & DC10. 

Ralph also founded 20/20 Vision Recordings, a label as relevant now as it was when founded back in 1995 that has released music from an eclectic range of artists as musically diverse as Crazy P, Maya Jane Coles, Christian Loffler, Carl Finlow and Voigtmann over 400 releases. There is something very incredibly special about that in our eyes, with multiple releases spanning the years still never leaving the bags of us here at W.A.P.

When you take a step back and look at Ralph’s history and musical knowledge as a DJ, giving this mix a spin is a no brainer. The man quite simply loves music and that is so very evident in the unique and fresh energy he brings to each & every set. 

We are blessed & honoured to have Ralph kick off our new series with a journey into the brain courtesy of new mycelium networks. From a slow chuggy start the mix builds into mind expanding acid house while being nailed to the floor by cabinet shaking bass along the way. This is full frequency mixing to be enjoyed on a road trip…
