Naples-based up-and-comer Mystics is making impressive explorations in the underground scene. His fourth output will land on 47 and marks the apex of his heads down, rolling approach to techno and a development of his left-field futuristic sound.

The extended six-track EP sets the scene with “The Unexplored Pt. 1,” a strung out opener that spits out irradiant shards of glitch and gated vocals. The rest of the EP builds a cohesive canvas from this sonic palette. In “The Unexplored Pt. 2,” washes of static and breakbeats barrel under a drone-like pad, while “Oxford RM” steamrolls ahead with four-to-the-floor kick drums, barbed wire textures and an orbiting melody. On the B-side, the artist leans into his penchant for IDM with “But If” and “Shrouded In Mystery” with their wormhole, Warp-like ambience.Never leaning too far into the past, these songs form a collection of visionary rhythmic techno, conjuring a vision of a world that is as movingly melancholic as it is haunting and spare.

IOD is the music album and at the same time a course of psychotherapy for all victims who survived shelling and bombing by the Russians. The fear of nuclear war forces Ukrainians to even stock up on iodine to survive it. Symonenko, having a subtle but energetic personality, embodies all his feelings from being in Kyiv during the war into music with the help of rec synthesis and live improvisation with analog synthesizers. Kutkh Jackdaw is a Scottish producer and DJ, now based in Brighton, whose productions and mixes take influence from a wide variety of different genres, from post-punk, darkwave and EBM, to synth, industrial and techno.

He uses a range of techniques including a heavy use of inventive sampling, combined with extensive use of vintage 80’s hardware. His 'Sweat & Thunder EP' was released on Dark Disco, with tracks also released on Lunacy, Of Dolls & Murder, N.I.M, and Sonidos Subterraneos, mixes on various podcast series, and an appearance on Strict Tempo.

Kutkh Jackdaw is a resident at Brighton based club night Acid Reflux.

Standards & Practices is thrilled to announce an exciting new release from veteran producer and label owner Jonathan Krohn, otherwise known as Stave, and Bristol-based producer Tavis Hitchcock, who writes and releases music under the name Karkossyn. Karkossyn's superb debut EP ("Troubled Youth") for the like-minded and consistently excellent UVB-76 imprint led to a conversation about a possible collaboration, which has resulted in "New Values" - a 12-track split cassette which highlights and showcases both artists approaches to blackened, scorched-earth electronics.

Stave's contribution is a solid summation of his craft and acts as a potent reminder of his range and abilities as a producer: from the cacophonous, arrhythmic "62523" to the simmering, coiled tension of "Relearn / Forget", there's ample evidence here of an artist operating at the height of his powers; the expansive, surprisingly moving "Rolyy" ends the first half on a powerfully lyrical note.

On the flip side, Karkossyn begins with the bleak atmospherics of "Hidden Heart", which soon gives way to "Break The Fall", a heavy dose of Scorn-esque breakbeat-driven bass weight. "For The Floor" ratchets up the tension to an almost unbearable degree, and the droning, cinematic ambience of "Memento" and the dense, pulverizing "Ruins" finishes the split EP in an elegantly brutal fashion.
