So Klarity.  Trance-like states are induced throughout Volume 1, weaved through by goth gaze moods paced with stoner grunge guitars - lyrics such as  “felt all the blame inside me”, “your predictable I can foresee what you’ll say, we will not be portrayed, as weak and unlovable” - brooding lovelorn memories, panoptic sensuality. 

Melodic desire connected in echoes of Korn and Deftones infected riffs through five tracks, moving in and out of a drone afterglow. Resistance to concealed narrative, instead baring all. Volume 1 is a collection of aching love songs; yearning dreams - an anguished postcard punctured with secrets. 
  
Within this stream of consciousness; spinning melodies of forlorn devotion, longing messages drifting inside the Black Hole Sun. Giegling Mix 07 - DJ Metatron - This Is Not

This album was written and recorded over a period of great change. While I was in the USA for a two month spell, I visited to Brown University in Providence with my partner to run a workshop we call Sonic Voyaging, where we bring together musicians and dancers to create a piece of work in one day. Jake Sokolov Gonzalez, a Brown alumni, played the cello is such a wonderful and beautiful way that I had to raid the recording we had made of our session improvising together. I was able to create most of the songs from this album with his work. Chopping, stretching and bending his strings into song which laid the backbone for the spirit of the album. Lyrically, I reflect a lot on growing up in Cornwall and the feelings of isolation there. But also the stunning landscapes I was a part of.

Adding to this album are two friends and idols of mine, Olan Monk and Orlando Weeks. Olan was back in Lisboa on a residency finishing off some tracks for their unbelievable new album (which I would later be invited to provide guitar in Olan's band for a live session in Ireland) and I brought the project file for TODAY, Olan and I plugged in our guitars and went to work. Orlando has been a great friend and guide to me in these past few years, he came over to my house and put down his vocals, which I loved, but being the kind and caring semi-perfectionist he is... he took it home and did something incredible and elevated the track THE SAME TYPE to a whole new plain, to which I am very grateful for.

A lot of these songs have already been tried and tested in the real world, I've performed most of them in London, New York, Glastonbury and Lisboa. Helping me to bring them to life was Inês Zinho Pinheiro and Aché. It was with Inês that cultivated a movement practice with these songs, which not only helped me connect to them more while playing live but also remember the lyrics. And Aché gave her full energy and passion on the drums as well as movement on every show we have done together.

As ever, by my side was James Usill. Supporting my work and chasing me on the deadlines we imposed on ourselves. I am extremely lucky to call him a friend and a fellow artist.
