Mala Junta is considered one of Berlin’s fiercest underground queer-techno parties, with a focus on inclusivity, a concept which approaches the faster, groovier edges of old school dance music.

In this mix Hyperaktivist provides this high energy tribal energy, with a one hour trip full of both old and modern cuts, blending the realms of old school and contemporary techno and trance music.

@bjarki is relentless. The Icelandic artist has admitted in the past he is obsessed with making music. And since his debut in 2015 there has been a lot of it - six albums and plenty of EPs, mostly on Nina Kraviz's трип, !K7 and his own bbbbbb label. It is always bold and innovative whether taking the form of a straight up club banger or abstract IDM composition. He has released it under more than 10 different names, and what unifies it all is its experimental spirit. 

You could say the same about this week's podcast, which begins with kiddie favourite 'The Birdie Song' before slipping into spoken word monologues, ice cold broken beats and twisted rhythms. They unfold at a relentless pace, with quick and seamless transitions from electro to techno to club music immersing you deep in Bjarki's unique sonic psyche. The cumulative effect is like a busy collage; an outpouring of captivating music from an overactive mind.

As one of the original members of rave collective Fast Forward, Schacke is a poster child for the Copenhagen scene: an arcadian playground complete with its own sound, codes and likely soon, diaspora. The DJ/Producer’s boundary-pushing output takes cues from metal, noise, hard trance, techno, you name it, though these stylistic distinctions are maybe less important than Schacke’s grander mission, one of providing ‘simulation therapy’ by way of getting ravers to enter a ‘kind of virtual reality’ in shared space. A few weeks back, the Danish wunderkind packed their gear and did just that, regaling party-goers with a taste of Denmark in Tbilisi. This one’s a live recording of Schacke’s set at Horoom, one of the club’s longest parties to date, a 12 hour set packed with fun and mercurial beats.

Peachlyfe (they/them) is a hydra-sonic electronic musician that shook & seduced the Copenhagen fast-paced techno scene, claiming their seat along with the Fast Forward Agency. Peachlyfe’s productions and live-sets rebelliously weave across genres, trippy melodies cut with heavy slaps while slithering whispers in your ear sowing the dismantlement of the ‘cistem’. Their previous EP “All Tits are Real, All Money is Fake, All Hail Satan” is an ode to that anarchic-playfulness, a marvellous feat in blending rave-rush joy and queer defiance.

With the worst of the pandemic in the rear-view mirror, Danish virtuoso DJ Tool can finally get back to IRL raves, and championing a signature brand of techno that blurs the gulf between the heady days of 90s trance and present. This is his second round for the Bassiani podcast series, a high voltage return to his Copenhagen roots. They’ve fully grown: quicksilver rhythms that have to be seen (and felt) in the flesh, though this one’s a glimpse of that magic at home. We are delighted to have Mohajer (@djmohajer) on board of our Motel Campo podcast series. 

Mohajer doesn’t just read the room, she galvanizes it. Hailing from Gothenburg, the Iranian-Swedish DJ has been playing for over a decade, and has spent the past nine years honing her high-energy sound in Berlin. Her dynamic sets—at Berghain, Panorama Bar, Bassiani, De School, Kyiv’s ∄ (K41) and Endurance in Copenhagen—demonstrate her intellectual appreciation of music; fusing old school and groove with hard-hitting techno, and the innate appreciation for sexy percussion she attributes to her Persian roots.

Mohajer is the newest member of Copenhagen’s notorious Fast Forward agency and label, with her highly anticipated debut release this year. 

She is also the co-founder and resident of queer and BIPoC-focussed party series, MP3, which aims to bring a sense of intimacy back to Berlin’s underground scene.
