Lottie Sebes’ Veritas Ventriloquist is a performance and sound work which questions, transforms, and harnesses the historical entanglements of gender, voice and technology. At the core of this performance is the Veritas Machine - a noisy, dynamic, woman-machine interface made of dismantled and reforged sewing machines, re-envisioned as an instrument and vocal synthesiser. This instrument is a set, an apparatus and a relational system of technological components which have been predominantly used by women in history.

Loops of archival material and electromagnetic sounds are wound through the mechanisms of the sewing machines, combined with their hacked foot pedals, resonating in Sebes’ oral cavity. The body becomes the sounding chamber for a genealogy where machines and media have historically impressed their gendered codes. Choking and aggression seep between the cracks of feminised postures and glances. The ventriloquised noise of the machine erupts through the mouth to form a shared agency through which a cyborg voice can defy the boundaries of its own gendered history. 

In collaboration with Davide Luciani and curated by Mote Studio, Veritas Ventriloquist is being expanded from performance into a constellation of media which will be released as a publication in conjunction with a concert on the 26th of March at Morphine Raum in Berlin. More than an act of mere documentation, the forthcoming music release, printed visual anthology, web-based media and text-based research are intended to present the full extension of Sebes’ sprawling inquiry conducted on two interconnected fronts of artistic research: sound practice and written, theoretical research. This release seeks to map both the genealogies of the media Sebes employs in her work and her processes of research and creation, aggregating the trans-media and trans-disciplinary manifestations which are created in this process. 
The release is co-published in collaboration with Stray Signals.

Voices From Your Future Past is a sound installation and sound work which uses the voice as a compositional instrument reflecting upon shadows and presences in virtual technologies and their aural construction. 
It has been presented as a multi-channel concert and an augmented reality sound installation in public space.

We developed a standalone software that constantly transforms the sound of human presence within a room into data. The software then uses the data to modulate pre-recorded sounds and spatialize them through a quadraphonic audio system placed in a second room. Using ambience noises as source for activating sounds, our work combines abstract digitalia and organic rhythms in an immersive, interactive and powerful multichannel installation.

Son.AR is a sound application that improves drastically the aural perception in augmented reality applications. It offers new perspectives for immersive installations and provides innovative tools for spatial sound composition in architecture, landscape and environmental design.
 
It aims to contribute to the field of public art exploring new digital realms enhancing aural communication and sonic spatial perception in large scale applications. This practice mediates new ways to address artworks and space, creating accessible contexts to connect, challenge and consult the audience, respecting community and environment.

Designed for iPhone and Android platforms, the app is developed in close collaboration with spatial audio developer and AI specialist Jordan Juras and programmer Mauro Ferrario. 

Son.AR pilot 1.0 was developed in 2019 and designed as hybrid between guide and sonic augmented reality in the vicinity of the Screen City Biennial (2019) venues, serving as navigation assistance as well as a visual orientation within the city and harbour of Stavanger. It also provided users with aural and textual information about the works, artists, program and exhibition venues. 
The Son.AR pilot 2019 was commissioned by the Screen City Biennial and supported by Stavanger Sentrum/Byen and Stavanger City Council.

Mote is an entity initiated by sound and visual artist Davide Luciani and Fabio Perletta. 
The studio is conceived to operate as art and design collective , production and publishing platform forging dialogues between sound and vision. Luciani and Perletta guide their research through the creation and direction of sound and spatial installations, graphic works, audiovisual pieces and publication works
