Italian production talent NIVEK takes the stage for his second release on Smash Deep with ‘Fooled Me Twice’. NIVEK impressed with his first outing on the Smash The House sister label, coming in the form of ‘Forever (ft. Zhiko)’, and he swiftly returns to build on a momentum that is increasing with every release.

Warm piano chords form an all-encompassing soundbed, as the lead vocal makes its mark early in the song. This is dropped in the first breakdown, as a round bassline steps to the fore in anticipation of the drop. The buildup increases in intensity, before the beat kicks in. The drums are full of house flavour, paired perfectly with the vocal hook. A guitar is introduced in the main breakdown, giving an acoustic freshness that makes ‘Fooled Me Twice’ stand out from the crowd. 

Whilst in the early stages of his career, NIVEK has drawn admiring glances from the likes of label bosses Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, who felt confident enough in the producer’s ability to sign him at such an early stage in his career. ‘Fooled Me Twice’ is another weapon in an increasingly explosive library that continues to grow.
