Just for fun. 

I shared a rehearsal space in the basement of Westbeth Artist Housing (please see the photo) in the late 70’s. This music has to do with my dream-memory of the place.

The basement was labyrinthine. Until a few years ago, I still had recurring dreams of that environment. It was constructed of grey painted cinder block or some such stony material. There were many bands in many rooms down there, and as you walked the halls you’d hear all the musics leaking out from under steel doors in cacophony. Often you’d hear the band in the next cell right through your own stone wall as you were playing. That made it hard to record in there. We did it anyway. 

The sonic qualities of this recording remind me of those hallways as do some of the somewhat antiquated guitar moves. And by the way, I love antiquated guitar moves!

This song was inspired by "The Cold Heart" (German: Das kalte Herz), a fairy tale written by Wilhelm Hauff. It was published in 1827 in a collection of fairy tales that take place within the narrative of The Spessart Inn.
Although written almost 200 years ago, the described conflicts of mankind are still up-to-date, maybe even more than before. Preferring status und prosperity over humanity is something which has become socially acceptable.

"John Denver was born Henry John Deutschendorf Junior at Roswell, New Mexico, the son of an air force pilot. As such, he led a peripatetic life from an early age, but would say later that for him, moving to Colorado was like coming home. He and his first wife Annie - the love of his life - bought some land at Starwood in Aspen
The Denver's moved to Starwood at Christmas 1970, at which time the area had been developed only minimally. They built a five bedroom eco-friendly house and a guest house on the 7.6 acre plot. This mushy, sentimental composition is John Denver's coming home song.

This song started as many of our best do, with Chris coming up with it on his acoustic guitar. He shared it with the rest of us shortly after, and we were all very excited to tuck into it. 
  Ken was fist at the trough for this one, adding his jazzy, expressive drums. Josh came in as soon as he had a beat to work with, adding his signature fretless bass to the mix. Not long after that, JJ broke out the hauntingly melodic piano and Shine On You Crazy Diamond timbred synth you hear throughout. 
  Once it had a good structure to it, Mark came in and added the dynamic cello swells that open the song, some subtle strings, the melodic clarinet and flute, and a bit of synth pad near the end to spice up the soup a bit. He also had the great idea to ask Nyla to add some vocals, which she did in her typically dynamic and expressive way using her original lyrics. Last, but definitely not least, we convinced Stephen to add some of his perfectly mood-setting banjo. 
  Once it was all in the can, it actually sat for several months before being revived by Chris, who also did the production and mix, expertly, as always.
   This song is an example of Eclectic Collective coming together to bring another one of Chris' brilliant songs to life. You should check out his new albums on Spotify, which you can find by clicking the link next to his name in the credits. 
  Also, this is our first time collaborating with Nyla K. We wanted to find a way to include her talents on this one, and her vocals here are magical. You can hear a lot more of them on her page if you follow the link next to here name in the credits, too. We hope you enjoy listening to this song as much as we enjoyed creating it.

Just a girl and her music, trying to do everything on her own. I like older rock, hard rock, and punk rock music, but maybe not so much typical heavy metal. I only like a few songs by the big metal bands Metallica and Iron Maiden, but of course I like a few of theirs too. My music is therefore more rock or punk than metal.
Thank you for all the PMs proposing DAWs to me!!! I have now everything including and USB-Audio-Interface to record a bit more professional. My musical story: after the winter holidays 2015/16 my teacher told us Motörhead ist dead, since the main person of it died. We children did not really understand it. But I always wanted to find out what Motorhead is. So a few years later 2020 or 21 I finally wanted to know it and tried listening to them - and I liked them. Actually I never liked Metal, but with Motörhead it is different. One of their songs is Ramones, well then I discoverd the Ramones wich I also liked! At the beginning of 2022, I wanted to play their songs and started to play guitar, bought a 2nd hand Epiphone and got an amp from my older brother who has a band. I played very much and soon discovered I needed to learn barre-chords to play Motorhead, which I did. The Ramones songs were also the right songs, usually only chords and vocals, not too difficult, just the right songs to play and sing for me. 
Actually my first expierence with music making was my brother's band. When I was 15 or 16 he needed a female voice and asked me, so i did 2 songs with them and had a lot of fun. A bit later I started playing the guitar. I am very sorry for my poor sound of my first 2 songs. I did not have an audio interface and a DAW at the time I recorded and uploaded them. The songs were played in one go and phone-recorded. Hope that some of you can ignore the sound and enjoy the music.
