The past few months have been a wonderful time for my eldest son and his partner, who are expecting a child. They wanted to share the good news of the pregnancy but had some concerns about going public in the early stages and decided to wait until the first sonogram and medical check confirmed everything was as it should be. 

During those early days the undivided love they felt for each other in starting a new family grew and when they felt secure enough they finally shared their news with the family.

I’ll never forget the excitement when they showed us the first sonogram photo – that new family was becoming more real with every passing day.
Then came the second image, showing the baby nearing full development, with a clear indication of gender.  Jason and Nicky felt it was time to name their child, choosing Richard Terence Reeves – RTR.   Sharing the name Terence with me makes me so very emotional.  
Being a granddad was something I had never expected but I am filled with pride to be just that to Richard Terence Reeves.

Deep thanks to Hans for once again producing such a wonderful arrangement for the song I wrote to celebrate the occasion.  It really captures the growing excitement we‘ve all been feeling over the past few months. Thanks so much for listening. 

Gary has asked me to apologize to anyone who has messaged him over the last couple of months and hasn’t received a reply.  Health problems and hospital appointments, among other things, have been taking up much of our time recently. So am I a butterfly dreaming I am an old man, or am I an old man dreaming I am a butterfly? Maybe neither? Maybe both? The simultaneity of suffering and happiness becomes a lucid dreamscape where there are no lines drawn in the sands of my life. (And if there were they seem to have been obliterated by the weather.) As the summer sun beats down on me, it is nothing more than a star that has its day, then recedes. But the lupine shares my woes as its flowers wilt in the unseasonable heat. I have put more water out for the birds and wildlife. Two yearling rabbits are no longer wary of me, as they rest in the shade. It took me laughing at them several times, for them to realize I was one of them. In that relative sense of sharing a greenspace with them haha. Glad you dropped by. It has been a quiet summer in the fray of the busyness of the world. So far anyway. Oh yes, the song…. Well I decided to explore some new rhythm vibes this summer, making up chords if need be. I had gotten away from that during the pandemic, and then lost motivation to play music at all. Such is the life of an old gardener. I needed to work outside and tend to things otherwise forgotten. Now that the garden is planted, my gardening planting chores are behind me. I returned to my old guitar. This is the second summer song to come from our reunion. A poem actually, to celebrate being alive. Is she a woman dreaming she is a bird or a bird dreaming she is a woman? I’ll never tell. Hope all is well with you, wherever the moment finds you, Mark

Bills note:
This EP and especially this song has been very difficult to put together. Yes, we wanted to release this in November but it just wouldn't happen. I tried but I'm a miserable failure.
Thank you Jeff for putting up with me ... again.
Melissa was able to make the melody work. She changed it from what I originally created and I'm glad for that! The result is quite good.
This is all real music and sounds quite similar to what someone could hear at the majority of our gigs these days.
We find ourselves doing quieter acoustic kind of shows, but hey, that's not a bad thing is it?
 (By the way - I really have no patience for people who put "helpful" comments about the sound of the kick drum or the snare or the synth sounds I used. THERE ARE NONE! It is just a piano, a voice and a cajon. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caj%C3%B3n That's all.)
Will is my right hand man. Hopefully you can hear the interplay between the piano and the percussion. To me, his percussion playing really adds a cathartic energy as the piece goes on.
