Yesterday I gave up on my dreams, 
Found a life that’s better than it seems, 
Rock and roll won’t pay the bills, I know.

The universe is calling, 
It's begging me to hold on. 

let me burn guitars to heat our home. 
Sure could use a place to call our own. 
If I had a nickel for each note, 

Than I would buy you jewelry, anything you please. 
Even though you’d love me still if we were doomed to freeze. 
Love is all I have to give, but I’d love to give you more. 
How about a song or two or ten or twelve for you?

I pitched it all, but then somehow, 
Things can’t get better,

The Real World

Why don’t you keep running? 
I will give you a head start. 
Let me get my shoes on, 
That's why you’re winning. 
You sure think you’re cunning, 
But cold is something that you aren’t. 
I’m all laced up now, 
Ready to catch you. 

If all I need is to have faith, 
Than why don’t you? 

My head is throbbing like my heart, 
And I can’t figure out, 
How to wipe these tears from your face. 
This isn’t our last day, 
I refuse to believe that things won’t get better. 
Pony up and stay afloat with me. 

Save your breath for saying “I love you”. 

If all you do is make a choice, 
Then why not me?

Stay Afloat

Endless attraction serves as a call to action, 
But I can’t see the shoreline from out here. 
The water is cold and I feel like I’m freezing my toes off, 
But I will swim till I am out of steam. 

I’ve been drinking too much water, 
I’m drowning. 
You can’t swim out to where I am. 
I can feel the sharks coming, 
Don’t know how they got here, 
We must have let them in. 

A gravity will pull me in with the tide. 
Soon I’ll find myself ashore. 
This splintered driftwood that I cling to, 
Will eventually find me by your side. 

Misunderstandings can lead to crash landings, 
Now water fills the spaces around me. 
I’m tired of treading, more than death I’m dreading, 
Never seeing your fair face again.

A Gravity

When we both look up, we’re looking at the same stars. 
When we both look down, our tears fall on the same ground. 

I’ve had enough of this for one lifetime, 
Being apart, thats not how we were made. 
I try to say anything I can to bring you near, 
But this distance reaches farther than phones. 

Too many miles stand between our hearts, 
But our love grows stronger every day, 
I try to say anything I can to bring you near, 
But I fear my voice will do you no good.

Your Ear

There’s a hum in the air, 
Not loud but I can hold it, its tangible. 
When I walk I can feel it, 
Flooding my pores and my follicles. 

There’s a dense and dark cloud, 
Not big, but big enough, and it's raining. 
All I have is chalk, 
And the water, it washes my paintings away. 

I’m wading through water, please part the seas. 
I’m blind but your grace is all I need. 
Deliver my soul from the depths its sunken to.

 Mountains:Valleys is an indie-punk solo project from Chicago-area musician Michael Weber.
