Mount Mike is Producer & DJ who hails from Melbourne, Australia and currently resides in Vancouver, Canada. Never wavering in his mission to push song and dance beyond the conventions of genre, Mike's taste is broad and doesn't stick to one sound. His music takes on otherworldly tones and textures, bending mood and energy, blending thump and melody. Deep house at the core, his tracks meander through progressive and minimal territory, sometimes even lending from techno. He loves it weird and wonky and is not afraid to blur the boundaries.
His DJ sets have landed him slots at Australian festivals such as Strawberry Fields and Babylon and have also seen him support some of the world’s finest acts including personal favourites such as: Stimming, Frankey & Sandrino and Andreas Henberg. As a producer, Mike enjoys creating a space where organic and synthetic sounds can meet in emotive harmony. Just like his live sets, he doesn’t like colouring inside the lines. His mantra? There’s a rhythm in everything, you just have to listen for it. His mission? To spread connection and dancing through the emotive and sometimes weirder side of house and techno. Signed to Australian label Suckmusic, Mike's releases have been building momentum with a string of Beatport chartings and Spotify traction. With a number of exciting releases scheduled for 2021, Mount Mike is certainly one to watch out for.

Welcome to “famiglia Savaggio”. This is Rudi and Toni. Brothers without a father since Roberto left. In the beginning we lived in Berlin. There, like scientists, we experimented. We started to play live, sometimes with a violin. We watched as our audiences showed surprise and then excitement. As we toured, we refined our signature sound. Some call it “deep string”. We made good friends. We made music with them. And sometimes they came to join the party.

You may not see us much on the dance floor these days. But we’re still here. So come find us. We won’t alienate you. We’ll hold you close. Whoever you are.

Mount Mike and Savaggio present a synergistic collaboration and exploration of melodic techno music. The two crossed paths in West Vancouver and shared an excitement and inspiration for the new and unseen territories that could be realised together. Individually, Mike continues to build his international reputation with a string of exciting releases while Berlin expat Toni, a seasoned musician who’s 2019 touring scheduled included live shows at renowned Berlin clubs Kater Blau, Sysophis, Dojo (Bristol) & La Crosière de Châteu Perché (Paris) has established his reputation in his new home and looks set to make his mark in the US electronic music scene. In addition to their first single release, remixes from emerging talents Rem Siman (Melbourne, Australia) & Gilles Bernies (Düsseldorf, Germany) complement the release and extend a warm embrace by label cohorts and fellow starship troopers ready to join the mission beyond the physical, and into The Promised Land.

DHS Premiere: Mount Mike & Savaggio - The Promised Land

Mike Hikes is a series of location-based DJ sets taking place in some of the most beautiful/inspiring spots in British Columbia. 

This first episode happened at Murrin Provincial Park just south of Squamish. It was about an hours hike to reach the top of the rocky outcrop which looks out over Howe Sound with my wife and disco cat (who you'll see in the video if you look closely).

I've always wanted to play a set on the last day of a festival so when I got booked for this one I was overjoyed. Taking place in the foothills of Whistler, Enigma is an intimate gathering on a private lake. "Eisbär"(German for 'polar bear') is a 1980 cult classic composed by the Swiss Neue Deutsche Welle band Grauzone.

Mount Mike is an Aussie/Canadian hybrid, like a waffle with Vegemite or maple syrup on wheetbix. He re-interpreted the Grauzone hit with his signature emotive melody & otherworldly synths.

Growing up on Creedance records, I've always had a special place in my heart for this song so it was all too much fun reworking this number around John Fogerty's vocal. 

To me, this bootleg feels like something out of a Mighty Boosh scene and I've never quite been able to put my finger on what kind of dance floor context it best fufills. Regardless, I've loved playing it over the last year or so and thought I should throw it online for free download!

Mount Mike @ Killing Time / MAMA SAID 13 (Closing Set)

After a short hiatus to regroup and brainstorm at DEPTH. HQ, we return to our beloved Perception series with an artist pushing the boundaries with his own distinctive sound. Next up performing his original music is none other than Mount Mike. 

A well known and loved figure within the electronic music scene here in Australia, Mike is one of the brains behind Premium Tuna. A radio show presenting some of the best local artists and showcasing their music over the KISS FM airwaves. 

He has been living between Canada and Australia over the past few years, and honing his sound by blending deep, quirky tech house, with influences of acid and 2000’s electro. With a string of releases to his name, he has been working with some incredible artists from across the globe. Collaborating with names such as Boy Oh Boy, Savaggio, Fosters, Gilles Bernies, and attracting remixes from artists like Kellerkind, Joe Miller, Connor Mac, Sparrow and Barborossa, Rem Siman and more. 

A dark moody sunset was the backdrop for the performance, filmed right on the coastline here in Victoria. Mount Mike guides us through a very unique set list of his music. Plenty of unreleased tracks, featuring vocals, acid basslines, chopped percussion grooves, which move through various styles of his signature sound. As we move further into the digital age, we believe that the future of clubbing is a 50/50 balance of real life and online. With this in mind, we have begun moving Tilt Shift in this direction.

We aim to create a platform that shines a light on Melbourne Locals and international talent. Build an online community while simultaneously putting people in the room as we broadcast.

Tilt Shift sits firmly left of center, a difficult-to-label square peg that unintentionally fails to fit a pigeonhole. Borrowing from the photography term, Tilt Shift refers to two different types of movement, a selective focus with a large depth of field used to control perception. As we have come to think of it, it’s where the lines blur

Since our debut as Tilt Shift in 2017 we have facilitated events at a variety of the city's most reputable late-night haunts like Revolver, Boney, Section 8 & New Guernica. In this time we have hosted & toured artists such as: Marvin & Guy, Curses, The Hacker, Tronic Youth & Timothy Clerkin

This clip along with its powerful vocals really moved me and I was inspired to try and translate this feeling into a dancefloor context.

Stewed up around the series of location-based DJ streams (Mike Hikes) from some of the most beautiful places in British Columbia throughout the northern hemispherical summer. These tracks are 100% inspired by the setting they take place in.

Written during the peak of COVID lockdown here in Vancouver, I found this time period to be a blessing. Among other reasons it was a great time for me to slow down and connect with my wife and during those Spring months we built a big veggie garden together. The tracks on this release were inspired by sunny days in our backyard planting garlic and listening to Stimming's new EP. Many of the percussion sounds in these tracks were sampled during the garden's construction & the melodies drawn from the uncertainty of the time.
