Mourning Singers are an alternative rock band from South Yorkshire, in the North of England. Started initially as a recording project the band has evolved in both line-up and sound; from brooding lo-fi roots into a solid, but still arguably melancholic indie outfit. Mourning Singers prioritise song-writing over superficial gimmickry: Interlocking melodies and intricate beats accompany the intriguing lyrics delivered by the haunting baritone of singer Richard Myers. Mourning Singers' music has been inspired by a variety of artists and styles, including Radiohead, Joy Division, Death Cab For Cutie, The National and Wilco.
