Dopplereffekt 

As we come to our 150th episode we could not be more proud of how the series is starting to shape and what better way to celebrate this milestone than with the project that has been one of the main driving forces and ideologies we strive for since day one:    

We think Joe Muggs phrased the feeling of first contact in the interview for Resident Advisor rather brilliantly; “Approaching the work of Dopplereffekt can be daunting. As the title of their first album-length collection suggests, the act—it's hard even to know whether to refer to "it," "he" or "they"—comprises a Gesamtkunstwerk: a "total artwork" where every song, every performance, every musical motif and every pronouncement is part of a greater whole.”
 
 This tendency for anonymity and mystery combined with the incorporation of insides on topics such as relativity, time-space continuum, totalitarianism, quantum physics, data (but always with a convivial twist) is what makes this act so intriguing as it always keeps its sound innovative yet timeless while keeping everything styled in Dopplerverse-matter. 

A little bit on the legacy of the concept: it made its debut in 1995 with the Fascist State EP, released by its own Dataphysix Engineering continued by Infophysix in 1996 and Sterilization in 1997 before releasing the iconic Gesamtkunstwerk in 1999.  Deep space excursions began in 2003 with the LP Linear Accelerator and the research was extended with Calabi Yau Space on Aphex Twin’s Rephlex. 
 The most recent spell of experiments saw the alliance with the Berlin based Leisure System come into fruition with 2013's Tetrahymena, the split EP with Objekt named Hypnagogia and the approach of mathematical growth and decay as an iterative process in, with data input considered individually relative to the overall model aka the Cellular Automata LP. 
Some other noteworthy work to let your mind dwell on are Die Riesen together with Visonia on Last Known Trajectory , the Instinct remix of The Exaltics on Solar One Music and the joined EP Star Gazing together with K1.   

This entire discography goes hand in hand with computer free live performances throughout time, with appearances at MUTEK, Oval Space x Different Circles, Tresor, Galactic Funk, inner city electronic, Glitch, Strange Sounds From Beyond, Nuits Sonores, Dimensions Festival, Dekmantel and countless others.

We will conduct an interview with these fascinating beings later this month, but in the meantime be sure to scour Clone Classic Cuts and Aqualung series for Der Zyklus, Japanese Telecom, Zwischenwelt and Arpanet to lead you to endless discovery and entertainment that may or may not have any connection with the previous recording, and as always…

Pe 6 noiembrie 2024, Atelier Cafe din Cluj-Napoca a găzduit ultima escală națională a platformei MELODIY, după un maraton de două luni care a adus aproape 30 de performeri și DJ din scena independentă românească în fața publicului din București, Iași, Timișoara, Cluj și orașul german Hamburg.

Ana Sechereș este selector pe scena bucureșteană de câțiva ani încoace și ocazional pe cea internațională. Performează în mod regulat în cluburi locale și în restul timpului se menține ocupată organizând spectacole live sau ocupându-se de seria de petreceri Avoidance of Séance și emisiunea lunară cu același nume, pentru Black Rhino Radio. S-a ocupat de jurnalism cultural, fotografie, streamuri live și e încă interesată de tot ceea ce poate fi numit underground.

Objekt: "Here’s the recording of my set from Dekmantel Selectors festival in Tisno, Croatia, summer 2017.

This was definitely a lucky case of snatching victory from the jaws of defeat and there are endless caveats with this recording – I had a terrible cold; I’d lost my earplugs about an hour earlier and this was the first set I’d played without them in about 6 years; the needles kept jumping (long story but kinda my fault) – but somehow the environment, the energy of the crowd and liberal quantities of vodka sent me flying through 2.5 hours of techno, house, electro, IDM, ghettotech, jungle, DnB and all the way back again. You’ll have to excuse the skipping records but otherwise I hope you enjoy the recording as much as I enjoyed playing."

Over the course of ten albums - not to mention an avalanche of side projects, remixes and collaborations - Jan St Werner and Andi Toma of Mouse On Mars established themselves as two of the most inventive and unpredictable artists in electronic music. But since they delivered the bracing, angular salvo that was Varcharz back in 2006, there has been an uncharacteristic period of silence. 

In 2012, that silence is broken. Mouse On Mars' triumphant return comes in the shape of Parastrophics, a life-affirming and constantly surprising album which is crammed with ideas, exuberance and sheer kinetic energy. It's like listening to the entire history of pop music - distilled, refined and crystallized into a string of compulsive new shapes, full of glitter, intrigue and addictive detail. Atomised fragments from two lifetimes of listening flare and fade, tiny scraps of memory shrapnel hover, tantalizing and insubstantial, before being whisked away by the next impatient idea. 

But despite all that restless curiosity, Parastrophics also demonstrates a peerless command of pace. Whereas some previous Mouse On Mars releases have bordered on the frenetic, their latest displays a subtle but persuasive sense of control. Even when tempos climb, 303s squirm and kick / snare patterns snap to brisk attention, there's an elegance to the way that each element slips in and out of the mix which speaks, 
whisper it, of maturity. Parastrophics is as a playful as ever, but it's never throwaway. The closing track „Seaqz“ is the perfect illustration, a frenetic romp which is perfectly held in check by gracefully undulating melodies; it brings into focus the beguiling sense of confidence that suffuses the whole record. All of which is a roundabout way of saying that, after six years away, Mouse On Mars have come back with their best record yet.

Iaora Tahiti album by Mouse On Mars was released Mar 10, 1998 on the Too Pure label. Iaora Tahiti, the follow-up to Mouse On Mars’s 1994 debut Vulvaland, finds the band’s multi-textured techno-pop refined to a high art. Iaora Tahiti music CDs The German-based duo takes its cue from its Krautrock forebears, using spacey, insistent beats and grooves as an anchor for its smooth analogue language and digital chittering. Iaora Tahiti songs The first two tracks, “Stereomission” and “Kompod,” are expansive, loping compositions founded on fluid, burbling basslines. “Achunkel” sounds like ghosts playing drums in a cybernetic junkyard Iaora Tahiti album. “Bib” plows a swirling ambient vortex with pulse-quickening techno rhythms. The morphing bubble-scape of “Papa, Antoine” suggests a breeding ground alive with emergent microorganisms. These are dense, abstract sound collages of the first order, cerebral, intriguing, and challenging, without sacrificing rhythmic accessibility or the occasional melodic fragment. It might be said that Iaora Tahiti is one of the finest releases of its kind, were it not so strikingly unique.
