The latest release of Mousike Records; Ougan is the first album of electro-acoustic duo Z/ F. Ougan, which means priest in Creole language, is the title that contains the philosophical concept of the album. The authors take on the role of curadores, guiding the listener on a journey into the inner depths. Driven by the communicative power of percussion instruments, they recall the origins of humanity, the first rudimentary musical expressions and the need to relate to a higher entity. Slow grooves, scalene rhythmic textures, synth bass and deep kicks support ethnic sounds from remote regions, to create a shamanic ritual, a post global sonic exploration.

Originated in Ankara, Turkey; @ikarumusic gets its main inspiration from the timeless and placeless resorts of human culture, intertwined both with beats and notes of antiquity as well as the mind-bending bleeps of synth-scales. Insisting upon a genre-free overall style, the sound of Ikaru resonates within a range of eclectic electronic beats, indigenous acoustic instruments and psychedelic sloth-techno, sometimes revisiting an ambient, downtempo style.
In its essence, Ikaru seeks for a music that is "capable of expressing the inexpressible after silence" in Huxley's words.

Enkidu, as we know from the Epic of Gilgamesh, represents the wild fabric of our kind. We believe that we all shaped ourselves to counter-cross our natural boundaries for thousands of years. We pushed ourselves and even our archetypes to become ‘more’. But in fact, what we should achieve is the acceptance of our desperate need for balance. Inside and out, rather than pushing and punishing. And as an expressive part of this story, we embraced no one but Herodot, the archaic storyteller of the Mediterranean lands, who once said that the worst thing in the world is to be full of wonderful thoughts and not being able to express them.

For our 3rd release, we present a single EP produced by Jiony, with soothing vocals from Ana Karen, coming from the heart of the contemporary downtempo scene in Mexico.

Co-founder of Mexico City based electronic music label VAA, Jiony marinates his own live looping and improvisation on his best friends - keyboards, with a therapeutical voice, Ana Karen. After their collaboration on VAA back in 2016, the duo shows how perfectly Ana’s voice and Jiony’s slow synth game blends.

First remix comes from Pigmalião, touching back to his Brazilian roots with the percussions after launching his new label I Lost My Poncho, closing the curtain with his dreamy synths. Quixosis finds Pigmaliao’s lost poncho and creates a hypnotic texture with twisting the vocals and Jungel brings us back again to the sea side with his guitar.

Ougan, which means priest in Creole language, is the title that contains the philosophical concept of the album. The authors take on the role of curadores, guiding the listener on a journey into the inner depths. Driven by the communicative power of percussion instruments, they recall the origins of humanity, the first rudimentary musical expressions and the need to relate to a higher entity.
Slow grooves, scalene rhythmic textures, synth bass and deep kicks support ethnic sounds from remote regions, to create a shamanic ritual, a post global sonic exploration.

In ancient Greece, music, or "mousikē,” encompassed song, dance and word. Mousike Records continues to honor each art form with new releases. For its next one, the label welcomes “two percussionists turned producers.” Z / F conceived “Ougan” following an Ayahuasca retreat. Inspired by wise shamans, they went on to create six original tracks. The duo, made up of Zenabu and Firuzabadì, now highlights a personal favorite! Appearing second to last, “Yātrā” means “pilgrimage" in Hinduism and other Indian religions.
