Flat White Chris is set to present his debut EP, “I.S.K”. It’s a project that showcases his passion and dedication to the music scene, under his own label, Flat White Records. This debut release is not just a milestone for him but also a testament to his artistic journey and vision.

In this EP, Flat White Chris has joined forces with renowned UK rapper TRIM, who was formerly a member of the influential grime collective, Roll Deep.

The EP features a couple of synth-heavy, deep house tracks that bookend the 3-track package, providing a rich, immersive listening experience. These tracks are characterized by lush, atmospheric synthesizers, driving basslines and shuffling percussion that all contribute to creating a hypnotic groove.

Sandwiched between these deep house cuts is a standout electro track. This track serves as a dynamic center piece, showcasing a different yet complementary facet of Flat White Chris's production skills.

Overall, this debut EP marks an exciting collaboration between Flat White Chris and TRIM, pushing a different sound on Flat White Records.

Lui Mafuta presents This Ain’t Jazz, a boundary-pushing new EP that fuses live musicianship
with electronic sensibility - an exploration of jazz influence through a deeply personal and
collaborative lens. 

The release is available on digital platforms and as a limited vinyl edition.

At the heart of This ain’t Jazz is a long gestating idea: to bridge electronic music with an
organic, band oriented aesthetic. Lui Mafuta reunited with four longtime friends and
collaborators: Paul Janoschka, Felix Roos, Jonas Esser and Benedikt Jäckle - who all studied
music together in Mannheim before scattering across the globe. Under the loose collective
named Weiller, they came together once again to create a sound that lives between genres.

The EP is a globe spanning production. Piano was recorded on Paul Janoschka’s Steinway in
his Frankfurt apartment; trumpet and clarinet were tracked in a rural French studio with Felix
Roos; drums came from New York via Jonas Esser; and saxophone was laid down in Lui’s own
studio in Mannheim alongside Benedikt Jäckle. All elements were finally assembled and
shaped into a cohesive vision back in Mannheim.

“There’s less synth work on this one than usual,” Lui says. “Most of the textures come from
the instruments themselves and a lot of sample mangling. I wanted it to feel raw, human and
alive.”
Despite its title, This Ain’t Jazz is a love letter to jazz’s influence. “I called it that just to be
safe,” Lui jokes. “It isn’t jazz but it’s coming from that space.” The project also serves as a
reconnection to his roots: two of the four featured musicians are teenage friends from his
earliest days making music.

Frozen Moments

Shadowy figures lurk in dark corners of the densest jungles, performing ancient shamanic rituals and summoning spirits. Huddled in a circle beneath the impenetrable canopy of branch and leaf, acolytes of the Cosmic Rhythm illuminate the gloomy wilderness armed with humid pads and bewitching synth leads. 

Gusts of iridescent synth blow through the mangroves, the homespun drum patterns and thick bass tones are just punchy enough to anchor the floaty melodies and rainforest ambience draws you further into the tropical habitat Rhythm Of Paradise calls home.

The 'Paradise' 12" is out on September 10th via Cosmic Rhythm.
