This week we welcome Jon Jones of Hot Biscuit Recordings, based In Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

I first came across Jon through his disco mixes for the lads at @meanwoodradio but more recently I was lucky to receive a white label promo of an upcoming label release by Mark Grusane which has been in heavy rotation since - 4 super hot disco edits over 2x12s!

The label has plenty of great music in the pipeline including two dope and exclusive EPs by Chicago legend Rahaan, with lots more music to be released in years to come. Here’s what Jon had to say about the mix

Welcome back to the Cadenza Music Source to Cycle podcast.  Rob Mello is a DJ and producer that has been right at the epicenter of the British house movement since the early 90s.  Along with Zaki Dee, Rob made up one half of Disco Elements, Jump Cutz, House Of Whacks and Sensory Elements, releasing a slew of groundbreaking disco cut up records on the labels Luxury Service and Azuli.

Rob also contributed to the widely acclaimed Black Science Orchestra project, alongside Ashley Beedle and others. 

As a solo artist, Rob has become synonymous with the Classic Recording Company, the label owned by Derrick Carter & Luke Solomon, with Rob releasing various singles for Classic over the years.  Rob has also moved into film score work over the years, working alongside Matthew Herbert on the 1999 film, Human Traffic amongst others.

i really have to bring my own needles in the future - with all these traktor djs, turntables sound really shitty these days when playing vinyl - on the other hand i kinda like how you can hear the actual room, it's size, the coating of the walls and of course, the crowd though the microphonic needles...

In every scene there are mainstay figures who stand behind the spot light, investing their time and energy into parties, podcasts, radio shows, events and everything in-between. For as long as Myles has been active, he has been contributing to Melbourne's electronic music scene through the Melbourne Deepcast, the weekly party Lost Weekend (RIP) and many more collaborations and DJ sets; not just in Melbourne but around Australia and the world.

A fine selector with a distinct ear for ethereal qualities, he can play across the spectrum but will always call house his home.

My musical odyssey started about two decades ago. 
That was a short time before the fall of the Berlin wall.
 
It was in the early nineties, when we had immigrated to Germany. I was 15. As so often in life, the beginning was a mere accident in conjunction with a youngster's curiosity.

We had moved into another town, where I happened to pass a record shop and heard this music - unlike anything I had ever heard before.
It was loud, it was hard, it was Jeff Mills Waveform Transmission Vol. I. This name was to thread through my rather modest biography like a recurrent theme

The sound was fearsome and exciting at the same time, an encounter with something quite unknown.
I was just curious … where does this music come from, who makes it, and above all how do they do it!??

At a later date the puzzle came together when various facts gradually combined into a picture that had a name to it - Detroit !!

And there were other masterpieces: Robert Hood - Minimal Nation, Kenny Larkin - Metaphor and Laurent Garnier - Shot in the Dark.

More records followed, 2 Turntables and a battle mixer. My collection increased with my musical likings.

I then went back to the roots. Soul and jazz music became decisive factors in my musical development.
Techno made me a music lover, but I was not limited to one style.
Towards the end of the decade I stopped putting on records and took up photography … but that is a different story

Although I was not active in terms of music in the new millennium, my enthusiasm for that sound and my respect for the artists remained unabated.
And in early 2007, again quite accidentally (how else), I started to make music myself.
