Tras la publicación de "NO UNIT" y "d-Drive" en dos cortes de la quinta referencia de NPR, estamos emocionados de anunciar el lanzamiento de "UNIT", el primer EP de ellian.

"UNIT" es una obra de referencia del artista, resultado de un periodo introspectivo que da lugar a una potente amalgama de electrónica downtempo. La naturaleza líquida e inmaterial del EP se manifiesta en sonidos mutantes de glitch, percusiones metálicas, cristal, ritmo y melodía que invitan a sumergirse en el espacio sonoro. Brutal y delicado, "UNIT" muestra todas las facetas de ellian, navegando desde el ambient y el downtempo hasta el bass y techno.

"A8", el primer sencillo del EP, ya está disponible con la preventa en Bandcamp. El lanzamiento completo de "UNIT" en todas las plataformas de streaming será el 25 de octubre.

Following the release of "NO-UNIT" and "d-Drive" on two vinyl cuts of NPR's fifth release, we are thrilled to announce the launch of "UNIT," ellian's third EP.

"UNIT" is a landmark work by the artist, the result of an introspective period that gives rise to a powerful blend of downtempo electronic music. The liquid and immaterial nature of the EP is manifested in mutant glitch sounds, metallic percussions, crystal, rhythm, and melody that invite you to immerse yourself in the sonic space. Brutal yet delicate, "UNIT" showcases all facets of ellian, navigating from ambient and downtempo to bass and techno.

"A8," the EP's first single, is now available for pre-order on Bandcamp. The full release of "UNIT" on all streaming platforms will be on October 25th.

My part of one of the first @audiovideobass mixcasts we recorded back in 2013. It nicely reflects that tension, when Romare and Machinedrum were releasing 160 bpm bangers, DJ Rashad was rumored to be working on some rap superstar collabs, and juke had the potential to become the next big thing and possibly change rap in ways unforseen. Few months later DJ Rashad died after drug overdose and none of that happened.

Ten years on I still consider this to be probably the best mix I have ever recorded or played. On my last visit to Ostrava, I discovered the recording on my old PC. As @audiovideobass celebrates ten years of existence this year, I thought it might be worth sharing.

Sha Ru

We couldn’t be more thrilled to be celebrating our 6Y anniversary with these NYC-via-Berlin artists. Their creations are fueled by perpetual motion, spanning techno, breakbeat, dubstep and drum’n’bass. “We’re always moving from place to place; our music equipment is always in the luggage,” says Masha. In 2019, Sha Ru wrote Near the Equinoxes EP (Sorry Records), a spacious, dubstep-indebted project, and Zer0 (Kindergarten Records). As the pandemic closed in, they moved to Minsk, followed by Kyiv and Tbilisi. Until then, their creative relationship had existed in short, intense bursts. With time to explore a new workflow, they plunged themselves into dark, psychedelic depths. Three split EPs followed: Bernal Sphere (2020), Polychronia (2020) and Ether (2021). 
Immersed in the complex reality of everyday life in these countries, Sha Ru released Feel the Future, Belarus! and White Red White, Keep Up The Fight in aid of pro-democracy organisations. Through rhythmic spoken-word in her native Russian, Masha confronts the horrors of state violence over taut, skittering beats. Match My Sway, their debut for Woozy, fundraised for Ukraine’s Kyiv Angels and Repair Together charities. 2022’s V.O.I.D EP was the band’s first fully English-language project; an opportunity to not only experiment with more club-focused sounds, but also personal feelings of overcoming fear. Alongside VA compilations for Pressure Dome, Infinite Machine and Kindergarten, Sha Ru’s new direction is steeped in intimate experiences and narratives.
