About the Album:
I started writing this collection of tracks inspired by sounds of the deep and wanting to explore the more minimal side of the genre, it's something I'm slowly working towards.
Throughout the album in amongst the clicks, crackles and hiss are the sounds of a scuba diver breathing through their regulator, it's one of the first sounds heard on the release. It was this sound I wanted to use to try and gel the tracks together, with the seven tracks ranging from those that are more dub-inspired, others more introspective and minimal, and others almost dancefloor friendly.

SUBSET: Four parts dub, one part deep house, equal parts minimal and techno, dusted with an organic blend of evolving atmospheres and live filtering delays. Served fresh in the Sunday sun or deep on a dance-wood floor. Twice chilled for added grooveability. Grown in New Zealand.

Manual Music presents you three deep intelligent cuts by Roby Deep, Peter Corvaia and Fractal Architect on the first 'Tales From The Deep' EP.

Roby Deep caught our attention with the release of 'Going Under' on Submarine Vibes, a personal favorite last year of Paul Hazendonk, the man behind Manual Music. Paul asked the Slovenian artist to join the Manual family and the result is here; 'Theatre' a deep throbbing builder layered on an acid bassline with delicate snippets of clear melodies breaking through during the entire track.

Peter Corvaia take things even deeper on his Manual debut 'Caspian'. This song breathes intelligence all over and you can clearly hear that Peter has put in a lot of time and effort to create something that special and rich in detail. Proper Manual debut here by the American.

Fractal Architect makes his return on Manual Music after his 2014 debut 'Crystalline' and having had released a mini album on the MNL sublabel in between. 'Espionage' sounds as mysterious as the title suggests. A beautiful warm piece of electronic music to end this release in proper fashion.

The music composition was originally written for a ballet production about the artist Henri Matisse. The trumpet was chosen when writing the lead part, since I consider it to be a very colorful instrument. Bruce Klepper's (https://soundcloud.com/bruce-klepper-1) arrangement skill brings out some rich harmonies in the saxophones and brass sections. He also worked on improving the overall brass timbres. I was inspired in writing this song by posting the word “colorful” over my keyboard for a few weeks.
