Around 2012 in a festival edition in Guanajuato I watched a documentary by Warp records. This was my introduction to African electronic music, Township funk by DJ mujava from South Africa, from that moment my Kwaito fever began. During those years I was also forming the KBW with a group of friends, an artistic collective in which I participated with an electronic music project and as a selector, years later I went to live in the Mexican Caribbean, it was then that I was fortunate to meet Deni-Shain (Atangana Records) who at that time was collaborating with a compilation of music from Cape Verde on the Analog Africa label, it was due to this influence that Sistema Bongololo emerged. In 2018 I arrived in Copenhagen and I met Emiliano Motta who had just played his debut in a nyege nyenge edition and started the Makabila Umoja label through which I met Ugandan musicians like Leo Palayeng, Otim Alpha and Spyda Mc as well as John Mutombo from Congo. After many talks and endless anecdotes, Emiliano invited me to record this set that I dedicate to the people who have influenced me, to life, music and the interculturality of the world and which I share here with much love and affection.

Sistema Bongololo - Makabila set 2022

Kim has been touring discotheques as a clubber since before most of us ever heard a techno beat. She was a regular dancer at Cherry Moon, Fuse, P3P, Food, and Silo to name a few classic Belgian clubs and party concepts. She smoothly and slowly observed how things flow in clubbing land, and after all those years she got behind the decks (decks that her husband G. gave her as a present!) and became an excellent, very precise deejay with a selection full of deep, floaty techno grooves and sometimes organic ambient excursions. Her 10 hour-long “More is More” mix she recorded as a live stream (accompanied with visuals by G.) during the pandemic is already a (local?) classic mix that has often been put on at afters-without-turntables. So while this mix is definitely shorter, it’s even better in its own way! Kim has also been helped us with the Basic Moves online communication and now sends out the newsletter, we secretly call her kim.com.

Cold nights and warmer sunny days causes stress on thick lake ice. As the ice freezes and melts on a daily basis, periodic cracking and pinging sounds can be heard, sometimes quite dramatically. This track is edited from an all night recording made at a lake in south Estonia, a "greatest cracks" if you will, from more than 6 hours of material.

This is logical, this is a progression... The original and still one of the best sets around, LTJ's about to touch down. After much confusion I finally found the original 1996 version of LTJ's seminal Logical Progression 2 CD release. This is the mixed set (CD-B). Intelligent DnB at its finest. I've been looking for this set for a long time but have never been able to find it online, only the 2001 re-released version where the mixed CD was replaced with the 'Ministry of Sound Half A Decade Of Dance' 96 live set and different tracks on the un-mixed CD. I brought a 2nd hand copy from Discogs.com. I will do a mix using the tracks on the unmixed CD (CD-A) when I get some time.

No infringement of copyright is intended, I'm assuming it's ok to make this available to download as it's not possible to buy this new anymore. If there is a problem with copyright let me know and I'll remove it.
