The composer about his new composition: "My first nocturne "Quiet Moon" is a tribute to our satellite and its cycle, which accompanies us regularly throughout the course of our existence. The week in ancient times originates from the phases of the moon. The composition is built on mathematical proportions, linked to the number 7, in the basses, in the number of bars and in the harmonies, which return cyclically identical. The atmosphere created is dreamy and delicate."

The composer about her new music: "Every so often, I feel as though I can see glimpses of another world -  moments of perfect beauty that take your breath away - and a second later, the moment has passed. For me, one of these moments occurred on a sunny June afternoon, with a warm breeze blowing through maples and pine. This piece - an improvisation from that afternoon - was my attempt to capture that bittersweet feeling of fleeting beauty."

Moving Classics' tribute to the composers of the 20th century. the Greek-Ukrainian composer Ivan Karabyts (Karabits). Prelude № 10 (Andante, rubato e recitando cis-moll) from the cycle of 24 piano preludes in different styles fantastically conveys the spirit of the Middle Ages. From the first moments the listener seems to be drawn to the magic of the Gregorian chant. Time seems to stop. Time and space become one of the most important properties of this music. We can compare this prelude with the music of Claude Debussy and his "Sunken Cathedral". The composer uses some stylistic devices to produce the archaic medieval character like a certain choice of harmonies, no tonal certainty, some metro- rhythmic features of of songs of the Middle Ages. The beauty of the Gregorian chant is eternal.

Ivan Karabyts - X Andante Aus 24 Preludes

"Geh aus, mein Herz, und suche Freud" ("Go forth, my heart, and seek delight") is a summer hymn with a text in German by theologian Paul Gerhardt written in 1653. It was first published that same year in the fifth edition of Johann Crüger's hymnal Praxis Pietatis Melica. It was sung to several melodies, the most popular one composed by August Harder, and later became a Volkslied in an abridged version.

Anna Heller plays Nocturne Nr 1 from the book of Nocturnes by Belgian composer Michael Lysight. Aesthetically, the composer was influenced by repetitive and minimalist music, but not only : a certain “romanticism” is present in his music, because he wants a direct communication with the public and not to compose for an elite. In 1991, he founded the “Michel Lysight Ensemble”, for the interpretation and the recording of his music. He’s also conductor of Nouvelles Consonances, the ensemble for contemporary music at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.

The sonata nr. 31 „Kalinka“ is the last large scale work for piano with the theme in the form of a song and 6 variations. This piece started life with another, and not quite appropriate, name: Nocturne! 
The opening motive, a descending scale, is the slow, gliding, fall of a leaf on a still, sunlight afternoon. the lyrical sound of the violoncello and the D major tonality have the warmth of summer days, tinged with the melancholy chill that presages the coming winter.
The following lines I wrote in the same express these feelings.
"Autumn Is Past I miss the Autumn leaves Blowing gently in the breeze When the days are growing cold And Summer’s green has turn’d to gold.
I miss the Autumn glow Before the coming of first snow That turns the forest into dawn, With gold and red not yet withdrawn.
I miss the Autumn hue Of fresh mornings wet with dew, Which, when fallen on the grass, Sparkle like mirrors that must pass.
I miss the Autumn song Of the birds that go along With Summer’s heat to other lands, And other woods and other sands.
