Ambient duo Space Afrika offer a bird’s eye view of the city centre at night with Somewhere Decent To Live; their keenly anticipated first LP on sferic. Unshackled from dancefloor needs, but still inspired and feeding off its spirit and romance, the pair respectfully acknowledge the undercurrents of Jungle, dubstep, ambient techno and deep house which feed into their home city’s late night economy, dowsing their tributaries back to dub and rendering the findings in a quiet, modestly lush ambient haze with a flawlessly anaesthetising effect.

High School Blues is the debut tape by 17 year old Russian producer Nikolay Kozlov aka ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ. Throughout the songs on the release there is a thread of generative and freeform characteristics, but the emphasis on abstraction is balanced by grounding and at times uneasy swells of emotion that shift and sink in slowly throughout the tracks. Suitable listening for a variety of headspaces and atmospheric conditions.

Vol. 52 comes courtesy of Justin Cantrell aka ju ca, an Australia based musician and founder of the label Daisart. His deep interest in the finer details of sound is evident in his own music and the label he runs that most recently released Haji K’s quiet stunner of a record “Black Against An Orange Line”. Justin is also an avid digger of Australian music, and has some very exciting projects in relation to that coming up soon. His most recent album “Chasms” was released on Angoisse in February of this year and comes highly recommended!
